So did I, as a comment to the "No BotCon Registration 5/17" topic.

What's a fan to do? Oh well...

Although I don't see how Sky-byte (Generation- and mold-wise) fit there, another homage would have been cooler.

I hope the comic makes sense of all of this somehow. I get that it's called G2 Redux but this is taking the term "redux" quite literally.
I was really hoping for some Cyberjet homages, a black Sideswipe, purple Ramjet, blue or teal Grimlock and some of the other obvious repaints. Perhaps they'll do them as Club exclusives later on to tie into this set. One can only hope!
"Negative nancyness" aside, I do like Pyro/Spark and Clench (though I wish Pyro had gotten Prime's head), the artwork looks incredible and I love Breakdown. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they come out with.

Nope, but I want to buy a Gnaw/Sharkticon...

It almost feels like going to one of those fancy resturants and getting a $200 dinner and when it comes out its this little round thing sitting in the middle of the plate
And Sky-Byte seems like he came to the wrong party.

Seibertron wrote:I was very excited initially about a G2 set, but now I feel a little frustrated. There's only 1 figure in that set of 5 that is actually a G2 homage. Clench and Pyro/Spark are technically from G1 that ended up being carried over to G2 the following year. Both were also European exclusives which mean little to a large percentage of U.S. fans (who BotCon is primarily attended by). "Streetstar" is from the tail end of Japan's G1 series and was never in G2 packaging. Sky-Byte came about 5 (Car Robots) to 6 (RID) years after the end of G2. Gnaw shouldn't even be part of this year's exclusives. Hopefully the other convention exclusives will fit in more with this theme.
Well, basically, Streetstar IS Streetwise, I have put that out there, so he is an homage to the G2 toy, just like Breakdown. Spark and Clench, like many other G1 toys, were released as part of G2 so I definitely consider them G2. And Sk-Byte again is our wildcard.
As far as the rest of the offerings, they all fit the overall theme we are setting up...

I adjusted the news credit to include both of you! Thanks for helping out. I literally got the tweet, didn't see a top-level thread in Toys, and got it posted. Sorry for any mixup!

Hey, no sweat! If you look at each of our three posts, they are only minutes apart....just in different corners of the forum! Just further proof that Seibertronians are ever watchful.
I'm not really impressed with the figures, but the neon colors are taking me right back to the totally awesome 90's. Radical!

Around $300 to $350. The entire set of convention exclusives generally runs around $500.

I'd be more than happy to take Spark off your hands if you break the set up.

I think people are misunderstanding me...
I'm probably going to be selling the set 'box'...not the box-set.
People going to the convention who buy a loose bagged set often want to buy the actual box, so that they can put their figures in it for display...
You can get anywhere between $25-50 for the box alone.

Thanks for the info, Pete. I stand corrected on Streetstar. I was thinking he was an homage to the Streetwise repaint with Guard City, but after looking at a pic of him I was way off. And a tad embarrassed that I had it mixed up.
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... twise/852/
EDIT: AFter doing a little research, I see why I had it mixed up. Streetstar is the Japanese name of the Streetwise repaint in Guard City. Now it makes sense. I'm not crazy after all!
I still stand by my thoughts on Clench and Pyro/Spark. But as I mentioned above, this is G2 "REDUX" so I'm hoping the BotCon comic will explain everything I need to know. It's amazing what a little fiction can do to change your mind about something. I also want to reiterate that I personally love Clench and love the colors on Pyro (still would've preferred a new head on him, especially over Sky-Byte).
I've still got hope that you guys have plans for G2 colored Classics toys. I gotta give you credit though for not going the easy route. Maybe Hasbro will release G2 Classics under Generations.
Sky-Byte will require reading the comic and seeing what you guys have planned for him to like him as part of the set. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune at the end of June.

I think the box is fine. Although the only one I'd buy if Breakdown.

Either start saving up loads of cash in the hopes you can pick up an aftermarker set after the convention, or find someone who bought it and rob them *
* = Obviously, I'm kidding here.

There will be the non-atendee option when the registration option appears for the boxed set (I think it's the Iacon package?
The atendee figs are most easily purchased through ebay, the cheapest are right after the convention is over. Sometimes BBTS gets a limited supply, but I wouldn't count on them.

JRFitzpatrick7 wrote:Looking forward to this set! How does a non-attendee go about getting a boxed set? The extra figures?
You just need to purchase the "Iacon" package when registration finally goes online. From what I've gathered from their updates the Iacon non-attendee packages will not go on-line until sometime after the attendee registration. That will get you the box set shipped directly to you after Botcon, but you won't get the extra attendee only figures. Basically once they announce the online registration is up and running start checking regularly for updates regarding when us non-attendees can place our orders. If you want the attendee only figures you'll have to sweet talk someone who is actually going into picking up a set for you or take your chances on Ebay. In the past BBTS has managed to get a few sets but they usually sell out fast.

Ah, now that makes more sense to me. Dang!
However, I'd definitely consider buying the box from you if Spark happened to be left inside.

Sadly he's not. It's not a cheap convention if you want all the toys.

And trust us when he says it's not a joke..I literally saw a complete 08 botcon set go for close to $2,000 on ebay the othernight..$500 seems like nothing if you ask me compared to the ebay markup..There are already people selling the 2010 boxset and it's not even in there hands...
