Reviewer, Filmcoyote had this to say:
“I'm not saying Transformers is as good as T2 but it was a real surprise. It has plot weaknesses and some shakey performances but it is hugely entertaining both in the frequent battle set pieces, whether human vs robot or robot vs robot, and in the Shia LaBeouf moments. Even some of the comedy (Optimus trying to hide behind a house he's twice the size of) worked for me (although my friend this scene a little over the top). But that's just it, like the first Pirates movie it is the over-the-topness combined with great set pieces and superb special effects that make it so enjoyable and help you see past the flaws.”

His comment about Weaving is exactly what I feared - such a generic voice for Megatron that anyone could have done it. There's no way it'll have the impact that Welker could have brought (in MY opnion).
I'm still wondering in all of these early reviews where the arctic scene is? Did they cut it or something?

I've been wondering that. I thought they'd have it as the opening scene, as a prologue, but maybe it'll appear later as a flashback. Or they didn't show it at the preview[s] because it ate up too much time.

Le sigh - Who's the jerk the thought up the concept of irritating droid comic effect?

Somehow, this didn't surprise me, considering that's where the prequel comic leaves off.
The review is not entirely informative, but it piques my interest.

Maybe it was all the slow motion sequences that took up half the film.

It's now like two in the morning and insomnia's in full swing so i'm back. Vern - actually yes Independence Day is a good comparison. The feel, the acting, the fun, the silliness, the thin-plot. A film i enjoyed on the level of entertainment it was meant but i would not consider a really good film. My best film of last year was Letters From Iwo Jimaider Dog Day Afternoon the best film ever made. I've taken to trying to just sit back and enjoy the ride on films like this because otherwise i'd always be disappointed and i don't want to be denied the chance to love brainless films rather than just the artier stuff which inevitably disappoints me less as i get older. But you know what I did enjoy ID4, I did enjoy Bad Boys, I did enjoy The Mummy but i haven't liked a Bay film since The Rock until this one, and i haven't enjoyed a summer blockbuster this year so far nor any i can recall last year so i'll take the best i can get. Mr Nice Gaius i saw this on a test screening back in late April. I didn't bother to write a review because I can usually only be bothered if i like something and on this site what's the point. That said the last review i srnt in in early April was for Spider-Man 3 which i thought was fine but disappointing and they didn't use it. I wrote this this time because two guys in a talkback said elaborate so I did. Obviously not enough so, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! - no Ratchet does virtually nothing, i don't think he has a single line but he is involved (as they all are) in the final battle which sees the Autobots come off much better than the Decepticons who are largely destroyed in the battle (Starscream is okay) and buried at sea. Jazz is killed though which i was disappointed in because they barely used him and I had the Porsche 911 toy of Jazz as a kid and none of my friends did so it was my pride and joy (that and Wreckgar!) Megatron is only in it a bit because ala The Thing (or reminiscent of a story I remember in the cartoon involving Starfire) he's been trapped in the Arctic frozen and the military have found him and kept him on ice (kind of like the Area 51 stuff in ID4). The tacked on plot revolves around the robots having to find the antique glasses of Shia's grandfather because they hold the key to discovering the power source they seek (Energon cube type of thing but they don't call it that). And on 300 yes i did say boring and i stick by it: it's just endless CG battles one after the other, there's no sense of peril or excitement because of the style. Its repetitive and dull and therefore, yes, boring. Don't get the love of that film at all. And equally the liking of so wooden she makes Knightley look okay Lena Headey. Maybe it would have been better if i'd had lower expectations but after the brilliant Sin City (which use the style to great effect) and the fun Dawn of the Dead I was hoping for a fun ride, what i got was a turgid uber-effect with no life and no soul.
Maybe SPOILERS but it seems a lot has been seen before. Don't know which shot in the trailer you're talking about huggerorange but he ain't there, but yes he does transform both at the dam-army base (the Area 51 equivalent) and in the big LA battle. He becomes a plane but not a human plane because he never scans anything so he's kind of a futuristic plane. Pretty sure we never see Barricade demise if has one although BUmblebee blasts the crap out of one of them with his arm cannon (big blue blasts shoot out from where his hand should be) so maybe that was him. Had to be either him or Bonecrusher. The helicopter Decepticon gets trashed by Josh Duhamel's army guy who slides between his legs and blows him up with some kind of bomb

Phategod1 wrote:Does it bother anyone that Ratchett has no lines and Jazz does barely anything in the movie. My biggest fear is that they (the Transformers) would have no chracterization and it looks like I was right. Well the action looks tight.
i thought ratchet had a couple lines at the house scene where all 5 of them are..
