One of Takara Tomy reveals yesterday at the Tokyo Toy Show was their concept for a line of remote controlled Transformers. The Italian RC enthusiast website Hobby Media has some addition details and images from the show. In a nutshell, Takara Tomy became aware of the remote controlled transforming robot from Brave Robotics that was making the YouTube rounds late last year, they liked what they saw, now they're working with the original creator to produce official products. The images mirrored below are just concepts at this point, but you get the idea of where they're trying to go.

IMO, it'd be much more suited towards G1 designs, as those were blocky and simple to transform. Movieverse designs have way too many moving parts to keep track of.

The concept's pretty cool, though. I've seen clips of the original robot way back when, and it shows a lot of promise.

Hmmmm... looking at this makes me remember an old Transformer my brother used to have. It wasn´t a Hasbro toy, not sure if it was from the 80´s or very early 90´s, it´s definitelly from the time many many many companies started to sell transforming toys.

I recall the freaking thing transformed by itself. It was a black car with golden lines, to me it was a big toy but I was 3 or 4 years old. I´m sure my brother didn´t get his arm lined up correctly so when it transformed, the arm broke.

Wow, in car mode the panel lines are almost INVISIBLE! The car mode is practically perfect! And the robot mode! Great proportions! Hurray for another Bumblebee! I need more Bumblebees. Everyone needs more Bumblebees. Now make Optimus but no-one else so can't battle them against anyone.

This concept looks promising, but I want it done right. I think we all should all expect another half-hazard 12 gazillionth Optimus and Bumblebee to be shoveled out.

True! I was joking because my post before that was all irony.

I REALLY hate to do this, but you triggered one of my pet peeves...

It's "haphazard", not "half-hazard"

On the other hand, I agree - shoulda been somebody ELSE except Bumbles or Optimus. And to think, back in 2005 we were all grumping about how Bumblebee seemed to have been forgotten...

The day will come when a series is called "Transformers: Bumblebee"

Plot twist: One of the 50 bumblebees is played by Goldbug.

Wow the original concept was great! the Has/Tak version, not so cool, done on the cheap! I like the original it shows a lot of promise.

Surely HasTak wouldn't allow more BB and Optimus toys... surely! :BANG_HEAD:

The original in the video was really sweet, but the silver bug not so much. Need to stick to more G1 type non real vehicles. Like a Roadbuster or Chromedome would look tight I bet.

this is a cool concept, but looks like crap, i do like the fact that they are working with another company, maybe this will open up the possibility of a domestic releases of some of the third party figures.

My thoughts are that these would be great for kids, who otherwise have difficulty with the crazy transformations, but these don't look all that great.

Like another poster said, maybe they should go with a simpler (G1) look?

And for my money, it needs IR sensors and IR cannons, so that they can shoot at each other. Well, I mean if TF's can still do that - with Rescue Heroes, I don't even know.

Hell yeah! I'd pay good money for that. I have the cheap and fun TF Prime remote controlled Bee. It's cool, but I would really want something crazy that is way more elaborate. I'd pay premium MP prices for a perfect remote controlled TF.
