You may have been following the news accompanying the retitled GI Joe series in the current shared Hasbro Universe from IDW Publishing, and its early cancellation with issue three - you can read more about that story
here, and we apologise for not covering it at the time, an official statement from IDW that will never fully come can be found in the CBR story by ways of Chris Ryall.
That said, Scarlett Strike Force #1 - the new title - does finally get a little touch of marketing, by ways of showing the usual first couple of pages on
iTunes, the synopsis, and a cover - plus a fair amount of Skywarp that we were missing in the rest of the IDW Transformers titles. You can check it all out below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion boards, before the release of the book itself in a couple of weeks!
They’ve fought back invasions from home and afar—now, they’re back on Earth, and ready to take on the wildest, weirdest threats out there! It’s Scarlett’s G.I. Joe team, the Strike Force, against a brand-new Cobra Commander, a revitalized Cobra, and everyone else trying to conquer Earth… or destroy it! Aubrey Sitterson (G.I. Joe, Street Fighter x G.I. Joe) is joined by superstar artist Nelson Daniel (Clue, Dungeons & Dragons) in The Best Action Comic Ever!

If you're into comics, be they about giant transforming being from a planet called Cybertron (or Velocitron, or Caminus, or Earth) or not, you might be aware of an initiative called Free Comic Book Day - it takes place on the first Saturday of May at participating comic book stores, not only in the US, and involves what it says in the title: Free comic books supplied by various publishers.
Transformers comics from IDW have participated once before, with the first issue of ReGeneration One, but it looks like 2018 is bringing us an even bigger splash in the Hasbroverse. According to
Newsarama, IDW Publishing will be releasing our introduction to Unicron, who was awakened at the end of First Strike #6, in Unicron: The Darkest Hour #0! Written by John Barber, with interior art by Alex Milne and cover art by Sara Pitre-Durocher, you can give a read at the blurb below, and check out the cover, and the new logo in particular!
TRANSFORMERS: UNICRON: THE DARKEST HOUR #0
(W) John Barber (A) Alex Milne (CA) Sara Pitre-Durocher
Not a whimper, nor a bang-the end comes with a squall of entropy shrieking from the ravenous maw of death itself. The message is clear: Unicron has arrived. The Transformers lock into a desperate bid to save Rom’s homeworld from the world-killer — but why has Unicron chosen this world on his path to Cybertron... and Earth? The biggest story in the history of Transformers starts now: for Unicron’s arrival can mean nothing less than the end of a universe.

The cover is done by artist, Casey Coller, as part of IDW's Artist Edition Cover month series. While the comic deals still with the fallout of the First-Strike series still, the production of the comic itself features the talents of writer, John Barber and the art skills of Livio Ramondelli inside the cover. The summary on
PreviewsWorld states:
"On Cybertron, Optimus Prime battles the Dinobots over the first new Cybertronian life to emerge in four million years! But does he stand a chance when the Dinobots' newest member is two miles tall and eats cities?

Coming from the meanders of the online retailer that is Amazon.com, we have a listing for the next miniseries crossover from IDW Publishing, bringing together magic and technology in another confrontation - as we see the aftermath and consequences of the First Strike event in.. Transformers vs The Visionaries!
The collected trade in the listing is currently priced at $12.11 (retail price $17.99), with a due release date of August 2018. We have a synopsis blurb, and a provisional cover (this may be confirmed at a later date, but it is currently identical to the issue #1 cover, lower banner with both franchises' logo included). The series itself should be starting shortly, with Magdalene Visaggio on writing duties, and Fico Ossio on interior art - check it out
here!
A word of warning for those who want to go into the story entirely unaware of the potential plots: the blurb below does contain some minor spoilers on factions and allegiances between the Prysmos and Cybertron characters, to skip it to avoid them.
Cybertron has been invaded. The Transformers encounter unwelcome guests at the heart of their planet--and they may not have their hosts' best interests at heart.
Refugees from another world, the Visionaries' startling magical abilities could make them powerful allies... or dangerous enemies. It turns out there are some of each. When Virulina, leader of the Darkling Lords, discovers that the Transformers are vulnerable to magic, she uses that weakness to try and gain control of Cybertron! Leoric of the Spectral Knight teams up with Ironhide to stop her, but they quickly find themselves facing not just the Lords, but all of New Prysmos itself.

Speaking of Christmas presents, Mairghread Scott and crew have a good one for fans of the canceled Till All Are One series: the first (and sadly, only) Till All Are One Annual! When it was announced that the series was ending, many fans were upset. Scott explained that she'd wanted to continue telling the story she'd set out to tell, and given that she'd been asked to do a soft reboot of the Cybertron-set series, she declined, deciding to cancel the series instead. That left a few plot threads dangling: What would become of Starscream's struggle to hold on to power, with Elita One gaining popularity and influence (due to her and her people's role in saving the planet)? What would happen to Windblade, now that Vigilem was vanquished, and she was no longer going to speak for anyone but herself? Would Chromia capture and kill Liege Maximo? What would happen to the Combaticons and Bruticus? Would the univerzze ever give poor Wazzzpinator a break??
While it's not currently known what will happen with all those storylines, thanks to fellow Seibertronian
Sunstar pointing us to iTunes, we now have the three page preview for the upcoming Till All Are One Annual! Due out
December 20th (good day for Transformers comics!), we'll find answers to some of those plot questions, and be given a chance to say goodbye to a series that had become a fan favorite, due to the creative team of Scott, Sara Pitre-Durocher, Joana Lafuente and Tom B. Long turning out such excellent work over the yearlong run of the series.
Elita One, Windblade, and Starscream fight to gain ultimate control of Cybertron! Dark secrets will be revealed in this series finale!
Stay tuned for a full preview in the next couple of weeks, and come back to the Energon Pub Forums with a frosty glass of engex to discuss this final wrap up for the series once it's released!

Well it looks like Christmas will be coming a little early for fans of IDW's Optimus Prime ongoing comic. Coming to us from iTunes, we have a three page preview of issue #14, which is due just a few days before Christmas, on
December 20th! Picking up right where issue #13 left off, we get right into it with Prowl leading a team consisting of Wheelie, Garnak, Stardrive(!) and a HUGE gun, on a mission to save the Throttlebots (who'd been MIA for the better part of a decade, since Spotlight: Metroplex, waaaaaaaay back in 2008) from a horde of beast-mode Transformers. The other plot thread running through the issue is Optimus' team fighting the Dinobots over a cache of sparks that
Trypticon is bringing to life. Read on below!
On Cybertron, Optimus Prime battles the Dinobots over the first new Cybertronian life to emerge in four million years! But does he stand a chance when the Dinobots' newest member is two miles tall and eats cities?
So what do you think? Are you planning on picking this issue up when it comes out in a few weeks? Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for a full preview in a week or two, then come back to the Energon Pub Forums to discuss this issue when it's released.
