Transformers Animated might be dead in the west, but in Japan it's got some life left in it yet. Takara Tomy had a special lottery with the Japanese supermarket chain "FamilyMart" one of the prizes was an Animated Optimus Prime. This version of Animated Optimus Prime is based off the Deluxe Class "Earth Mode" Optimus Prime. However this version is different from the original release, as it's not only rare but also "clean", meaning that it lacks the black "Battle Damage" paint apps of the original. Following the onslaught of recent news regarding Transformers: Prime, USA Today has now posted character details of the early cast from the show. From their article:

The Transformers get a "distinct" makeover for the new animated series on The Hub, premiering Nov. 26, but favorites will still be easy to recognize, says executive producer Alex Kurtzman. The "Robots in Disguise" include:

Optimus Prime

(Peter Cullen)

The leader of the Autobots and protector of humans is the biggest, strongest and smartest. He goes from big rig to his red-and-blue armored self. "We always saw Optimus as the noble knight who was there to protect and to carry on the code. The code extends as far back as to what it represented on Cybertron and the lineage he came from, which was protection of the race," Kurtzman says.
