Operation: The Art Bringer
Another returning guest to the 2018 edition of TFNation is the fan-beloved artist from the big cold white North, Alex Milne!
Milne has been working as a creator for Transformers since the days of Devil’s Due Press’ GI Joe vs the Transformers, various collaborations with Fun Publications and eventually moving to regular, serialised work with Dreamwave and IDW Publishing. As the regular co-creator on Transformer: More Than Meets the Eye, Milne has rendered hearts and tears in painstaking detail, bringing some of the more expressive robot faceplates to the pages of comics.
Alongside and after MTMTE, Milne has provided covers for a range of IDW Publishing comics, Transformers and elsewhere, as well as providing interior art for an issue of Transformers: Lost Light. His most recent collaboration saw him partner once more with writer John Barber (and Christos Gage) on the prequel mini-series Rom vs The Transformers: Shining Armor - but the perhaps bigger news is his presence as artist for the upcoming Unicron: Darkest Hour #0 Free Comic Book Day issue due in May 2018.
Alex Milne will be signing autographs, selling artwork, and attempting to complete commissions at TFNation 2018, as he is always in extremely high demand.

Uproxx: You were part of the Transformers writers’ room. I’m so curious: What’s a Transformers writing room like?
Steven DeKnight: It was a blast.
Uproxx: I imagine.
Steven DeKnight: It was a room full of incredibly talented, interesting, really wonderful people. I’ve got to say, my time spent in there was just, more than anything, was just so much fun. Everyone was so much fun and interesting. And we actually wrote, I think it was, I want to say 12 different movies. Every one of us took a different idea and developed it into like a full 30-page outline, so there were like 12 movies. And also, in complete honesty, my absolute favorite movie of the bunch was the Bumblebee movie that they’re making right now.
Uproxx: I’ve heard good things about it.
Steven DeKnight: The idea was fantastic.

Operation: A Handful of Voices
The second voice actor that TFNation is proud to present for 2018 hails from the land of the early 2000s, and the series that some will argue is called Car Robots, when we all really know it as Robots in Disguise (2001) - please join us in welcoming the man behind Megatron, leader of the Predacons: Daniel Riordan!
As well as voicing the purple leader Megatron, Daniel remained at the mic for the gold and white upgrade Galvatron, and is so far the only voice actor famous for lending his talents to a robot, jet, bat, two-headed dragon, giant flying hand, roadster, winged griffin, one-headed dragon, hydroplane, and an elephant, all while only really voicing the same character.
In a fun twist, he also voiced Omega Prime, the combined form of Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus and leader of the Autobot side, opponent and eventual vanquisher of Galvatron in the final episode of the series.
In other Transformers appearances you may recognise, Daniel was behind the 2007 videogame based on the Paramount live-action series, and specifically, the Decepticon characters of Bonecrusher and Shockwave. He has also been involved in several videogame franchises as secondary and additional character voices, with the likes of Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect III, Age of Empires III, Skyrim, and more.
On screen, both big and small, he is well known for his roles in Dreamgirls, Jingle All The Way, The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space, and a brief presence in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Wild Thornberrys.
Daniel Riordan will be present all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for quick photo opportunities, and eager to meet fans of his work and of Transformers in general!

A lot of changes suddenly at comics companies all over. I’ve just learned that Chris Ryall, formerly Chief Creative officer and Editor-in-Chief at IDW, has stepped down.
The move is entirely of his own volition, I’m told.
Ryall joined IDW in June of 2004, and oversaw its steady growth in both licensed comics and originals, as well as writing titles including Zombies vs Robots, Groom Lake, The Hollows, The Colonized, and Onyx, and licensed titles including Transformers.
Ryall wrote a farewell email to staff which included the following:
Through it all—through the deadline craziness, market fluctuations, assorted business challenges, social-media storms, new faces, new projects, and new challenges—it’s all served as a constant reminder how lucky I’ve been to contribute to this industry that I love so much. And I plan to keep making contributions outside these walls. But for now, I’m stepping aside to take a break, get off the never-ending-deadline train and see what new challenge makes the most sense as my next move. It might seem short at times, but 14 years is a long time to do anything — I’ve certainly never done anything else in my life for this amount of time.
There’s not enough time or space to catalog the various successes that have happened here in that time and really, there’s no need — they’ve all been parts of a whole that has made this place such a thrill to work at for as long as I have. The successes and fun vastly outweighed the stresses, which is really a testament to the place that Ted and Robbie and company built in the first place. I’m appreciative as can be for all the opportunities IDW has afforded me. It’s just time to figure out my next move, that’s all.
I remain excited about comics, about creating, and about giving people good reasons to keep reading and, separately, about seeing everything IDW is going to do next. I first noticed IDW’s books in its earliest days, impressed by the care and uniqueness that those early titles offered, so it’s been a thrill to join all of you to build things out in an even bigger way. And I look forward to once again being able to experience IDW’s output with a fresh eye.
While his next move isn’t yet known, as shown by the above, Ryall seems to want to stay in the comics biz. As shown by his words, Ryall is known as a classy, even tempered executive, and I don’t doubt that he’ll have many opportunities in front of him.
This is the latest of a strong of changes at IDW. Recently co-founder Ted Adams moved from publisher to CEO, while Greg Goldstein moved into the Publisher position. PR manager Steven Scott also recently left the company.
Developing.
