Another interview with
Transformers Movie producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura as popped up on the net. This time with the
Movie Reporter. Aside from the new GI Joe movie, di Bonaventura also had a few things about Transformers. When asked about Megatron, he had the following to say.
"
We're trying to hold him back from everybody, you know, it's like, entertainment is, I'm going to paraphrase something Warren Beatty said a few months ago, I read it in the paper and I thought it's so damn simple and it's perfectly profound, he said the most important element of entertainment is surprise. And I thought, I hadn't really thought about it that way, but it's true and one of the things that's been, I won't say frustrating because it's the wrong word but one of the things we've just had to deal with is people's constant attention and people constantly trying to...you know the art department had like 39,000 hacks the first month on, or attempted hacks on their thing. So, the good news for us is that nobody has seen the robots in final form because they are not final yet, we haven't either, so, everybody is making this assumption of what they're going to look like, but, you haven't seen them yet so you can't, they're wrong. They're close in a couple cases but they're not there yet and Megatron will be one of the last ones on purpose because we are hoping to finish I'll call them our hero robots first because they take, I was almost about to reveal something, I'm not going to (laughter), but, we'll spend more screen time with them, I'll say it that way. So, and we have to interact with them, Shia has to interact a lot with them so they're the ones we had to hone first".

Movies Online got an exclusive
interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, one of the producers of the upcoming
Transformers Movie, to be released July 4th 2007.
In the interview di Bonaventura talks about where the movie is at, at this moment.
"
I think it’s everybody’s sort of internal barometer, you know. I personally can’t take 32-foot size metal robots all that seriously. (Laughs) On the other hand, I take what they represent very seriously. So it’s that sort of balance where you say to yourself ‘you know what, let’s not pretend we’re making War and Peace.’ We’re not. But people feel really passionate about what these Autobots and Decepticons stand for and there’s a very rich mythology so there’s a real demand to deliver that. So for the non-fan of it, we had to have enough fun with it so that they would be entertained and for the fan, we had to take it very seriously what we were executing around the Autobots and the Decepticons".

Our own 1bigray has brought some new
Transformers Movie news to our attention. In a recent interview Bernie Mac had this to say about his role in the upcoming
Transformers Movie:
"I play a used car salesman, and all used car salesmen are full of sh*t – scuse my French – but they're con men," said Mac. "And they came to my set and I sold them the Transformer; I didn't know it was the Transformer, I thought it was a piece of junk. And the first thing you do as a salesman, a car salesman – I didn't know this, I did some investigating myself – they always sell you the 'bs' cars first. It's almost like a restaurant – get rid of the food, rotate it. When they come, I didn't know what the car exists of, and I just threw them a line; I'm a fast talker, quick whit guy. I got a chance to have some fun and Michael [Bay] – man, I've been fortunate, man, because every director allows Bernie Mac to do his thing. I have not been handcuffed since my career started from Ted Demme; every time a director, every time we'd do it straight, they always tell me, 'Now Bernie Mac it.' That's a luxury, you know."

IDW's Chris Ryall has always been open to the fans. After coming back from a busy weekend at New York New York Comicon, Ryall has set up a thread in the IDW forums to answer fan questions. He has already answered a few and in doing so has revealed some new information about the Transformers and New Avengers Crossover and other stuff. Here is the new information about the big crossover:
- It will take place before Marvel's Civil War.
- The Avengers line-up will include old guard members like Iron Man (when he was likable!) and Captain America (before he surrendered!), along with Spider-Man (still in the red and blues, not back in black), Wolverine, Ms. Marvel and Luke Cage, and even some lesser-seens like the Falcon.
- There is a threat on Latverian/Symkarian border that could potentially bring about war.
- Marvel's will be assigning one of their colorists to the project
- Only Marvel artist will be doing the covers.
- It's set in-continuity to place it in the IDW timeline, but it's still a standalone thing that probably won't be felt in the regular comics (techincally, where it takes place, it's already happened...). IDW might vaguely refer to it (and certainly it impacts one TF not appearing in future stories of our books).
- The bots will pretty much be the same ones in both Infiltration and Escalation.
Information about Beast Wars:
- Beast Wars books are planned for August. The title is "The Ascending."
- Beast Wars profile books planned for August.
