If you're fine with this then you'd have to also be fine with Hasbro if they started making Marvel or Star Wars figures with holes in their heads as well, right? Or maybe Hasbro should stop painting the back of figures, too, since nobody displays the back of figures, right?

Personally I think people are getting too hot about this on both sides. I wouldn't want an "unfinished" Black Series figure, but in something like "Mission Fleet?" Yeah, that'd be understandable. I personally think people's expectations of Core class are too high, it's like Soundwave's feet all over again. This is the new Hasbro version of Legion class, not direct competition with Newage, which is five times as expensive.

I don't think this size class was ever referred to as Legion. Instead it's been labelled as Basic, Scout and Legends. The legion designation is for even smaller and less articulated figures.

jtanimator(to whom I was responding) has a problem with the pic of the hollow head being in the headline of the front-page news article. He was suggesting that the writer of the article did it deliberately to smear the figure (and possibly by extension Hasbro) and I was responding that there's nothing wrong with making an obvious flaw with the figure a focal point of the article.

So it wasn't the fact that Hot Rod has a hollow head, it was that the news piece seems to be emphasizing it on purpose to fuel negative response. A point with which I disagreed.

In the end, I like this Hot Rod in robot mode, he will go well next to CW Rodimus on the shelf.

In case you didn't notice by now, the Core class when applied to larger characters is essentially "Slightly-classier Authentics/Cyber Battalion-level figures under the Generations banner". Its main purpose is to provide cheap, simplified, miniature versions of characters, with a secondary function of providing a replacement Scout/Prime Wars Legends class for small characters like Rattrap who they can't go Earthrise Cliffjumper on.

Emerje wrote:If you're fine with this then you'd have to also be fine with Hasbro if they started making Marvel or Star Wars figures with holes in their heads as well, right? Or maybe Hasbro should stop painting the back of figures, too, since nobody displays the back of figures, right?

Except that 1. Humans are inherently less complex than transforming robots, and so would not require such molding concessions at a comparably bottom-level price point and 2. The argument being made wasn't that the hole didn't matter because nobody would display his back... it was that it didn't matter because - barring egregious incomplete transformation - thanks to the spoiler it would be covered. So, a far more accurate comparison would be leaving the back of a Darth Vader figure unpainted because it's just going to be hidden by the cape.

You do realize this is a cheap, simplified, relatively tiny $11 toy, right? :P

Indeed.

I am not talking about the hollow parts. that doesn't bother me. its the over all figure, wonky proportions, super glossy ko looking plastic, shell former bits that I find lack luster. Roddy has a history of having toys that could be better. and yes, I know this is a cheaper line. I have every one of them so far, and imho they have been fantastic. this one feels more like a ko or step down, at least from these pics. a full review could change my mind, as such things have happened.

Core class is still a $10 figure in the main line regardless of purpose, there's an expectation of a certain quality that this figure doesn't meet IMO. I would argue that at $5 both Authentics Barricade and Ratchet are nearly of the same quality as Hot Rod here and neither had to resort to having holes in the back of their heads.

Emerje wrote:If you're fine with this then you'd have to also be fine with Hasbro if they started making Marvel or Star Wars figures with holes in their heads as well, right? Or maybe Hasbro should stop painting the back of figures, too, since nobody displays the back of figures, right?

1. We already pay the price for that complexity with hollow limbs, much of which is a side effect of that same complexity. A hole in the head is nothing more than Hasbro trying to save an extra fraction of a gram of plastic, there's no practical molding purpose.

2.That excuse only works if you never turn his head. And I'm not convinced his backpack goes high enough to cover the whole thing either, and even if it could it would only work if you looked at it from directly behind and no other angle.

He does, there's a swivel sandwiched in between his front and back torso halves.

I'm as forgiving of hollow parts as anyone. Hollow thighs? Hollow forearms? Hell, Huffer's completely hollow back of his legs? None of them bother me, I can easily overlook them and headcannon that the outer shell is strong enough to do the job.

But this is a head. And a hollow head is just no good unless you are looking for a corpse with the back of his head blown off. And really that is how things look from the photos.

Hollow parts are inevitable and don't generally bother me, but trying to save a tiny bit of money by going with a hollow head was a bad call, as simple as that.

I wouldn't go that far. It's still only going to show up in a limited number of poses from the rear. That's not the same as never -- one good use of Core figures in photography is to have them looking up at a much larger figure to make the latter appear even bigger. But in casual traditional play and posing, it isn't likely to be very noticeable.

If you hate it, fine. If it doesn't bother you, fine. I don't think this is a situation where it's "objectively" bad, if there is such a thing.

I do find it oddly funny that Hot Rod's hollow head seems to be outrage worthy (I get it, but honestly it's a $10 figure and I don't care enough to complain), but Drag Strip who is a deluxe (which is what, $22 in store $25 online?) gets a pass for the hollow head. Maybe it's cause his head becomes a seat in vehicle mode?

I know leader figures are big but compared to both Siege Voyager Optimus Prime and Kingdom Optimus Primal Kingdom Ultra Magnus is really tall.

I just picked up Tigatron at Walmart. This is my first and likely ONLY Beast Character I'll be picking up. He was my favorite back in the day, but if the fandom hadn't given overwhelmingly positive reviews, I would have passed. The nostalgia is strong with this one ;) . Anyway, he is great, glad to add to my collection. Also there were multiple Rhinox, so I can confirm this was a wave 4 case, not wave 5 at least in my area. These were the first Kingdom Voyagers I had seen anywhere in at least 3+ months.

WFC Kingdom deluxe Slammer video review.

Greetings Seibertronians!

It's been a very long time coming, but not only is Metroplex's final teammate, Slammer, being released, Emgo316 has posted his video review.

Slammer is the last weaponizer to come out in Kingdom. This time, the weaponizer is not a fossil but a mechanical robot. Slammer transforms into a tank by partsforming as all weaponizers did before. He has the obligatory "armor mode" to upgrade other deluxes or voyagers from the WFC trilogy. He also has an unofficial "tower mode" for the old Generations Titan Metroplex. Ironically, that mode is not in the instructions.

You can see the video review down below:

So, what do you think? Are you planning on getting Kingdom Slammer whenever you have Generations Metroplex or not?
