No, I am not friendly online or in real life.

Override.
One of those TRANSformers that change gender depending whenever he/she speak Japanese or English. :-?

I find this ridiculous but at the same time, it gives me the idea of making a custom with the concept of Baron Ashura from Mazinger Z.

A bit late to the party on this because I've had no Internet for the last few days, but DAMN that Override looks great! I was uncertain at first when the leaks said she'd be an extensive retool of Hot Rod, but I'm happy that she's turned out to be an original mould. I kind of regret not getting that Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus now (his aftermarket prices are an absolute joke), because he doesn't look too bad next to Override.

Really like the looks of Override. The figure is androgynous enough to be male or female depending on what you want to call it. Doesn't really feel like a Voyager priced figure, she has a lot of visible gaps compared to Hot Rod. Would be nice if she came with a Cyber Key shaped shield or something. Hopefully she comes with something to pad that price point like weapon effect parts and, sure, a trophy, why not?

- The Beast Wars reissues: this exclusive line continues this year, we already got Cybershark but more will be in stores soon.
- This Velocitron line: We have not seen the packaging yet but apparently this is supposed to be what is replacing the Netflix exclusives for Walmart and it is said that the toys will be packaged in alt mode.

One and the same. The comments are taken directly from the forum, but new member posts only show up for everyone in the comments, they're invisible when viewed from the forum except to staff members which is why Will could see it and others couldn't. Same goes for posts from people you choose to ignore.

They do it because it's a convenient way to show a figure's range of motion and instantly recognizable making it easy to tell if its being done right.

First off, Nice to see a fellow Mazinger Z fan. ;)^ . Although what occurs with Override/Nitro Convoy I wouldn't equate to Baron Ashura. But I understand, its just something you want to do for fun. What occurred however was more of a lack of communication between the two different language teams producing Galaxy Force/Cybertron, just like what occurred with Airrazor in Beast Wars.

Unlike Airrazor however which did develop somewhat of a relationship with Tigatron in BW which made things awkward in later episodes of BW in Japan (but they just went with it), Override didn't have this problem.

Nitro Convoy was written as a male character for Galaxy Force. Override was also (allegedly) supposed to be male for the English dub of Cybertron, but the script was changed via a mandate from CN (ah, the humble beginnings of forced diversity). Fortunately the change didn't really impact her character one way or another. So its not really a Trans example, its just a character that has a definitive identity, it just depends on which language you watch the show in.

Doesn't help that Cybertron and Galaxy Force are almost two entirely separate stories, to the point where IIRC up until Takara did some retconning, GF wasn't even connected to Energon or Armada. Regardless I'll be having her as a her.

Now a Baron Ashura styled Overlord I would absolutely be down for. Bonus points if he/she/it transforms with the tank forming the male half and the jet forming the female half, Animated Safeguard/Brave Symmetrical Docking style.

LOL, totally forgot about RED, even though I see tons at Walmart. I just find that line of absolutely no consequence. Which is too bad since it had potential on the fact that non transforming Transformers are part of the brand's history and even have a nostalgia factor to it (took a while but it's there now).

Could have been cool to have action figures that compliment the transforming ones. Either have the human versions from G1 episodes, or action masters, or characters that don't have defined alt modes. But no, it's Optimus and Megatron followed by redecos. UUUUURRRGGHH

Yeah, and that's why I always associate this character/toy as male. Unlike female TFs which don,t have a feminine body, the face here doesn't even have a hint of feminine features. It's literally a male character and male design with a female voice in the english dub. Of course, I get why people who grew up with this show call it "she" when describing how much they like or dislike this toy, but I do feel a bit weird everytime I read it.

Speaking of the toy itself, this is honestly the toy I am most looking forward to in 2022. I ADORE the Cybertron aesthetic where the robot and the alt mode share the same parts just reoriented to go from a vehicle to a humanoid figure. It's the G1 doctrine revamped for a new generation and I'm glad to see it back here.

To this day ( I have Galaxy Force on DVD). It's not connected if you watch it on its own. TT may as you say, have retconned it via some manga, or novels, or story pages, but honestly it's much more enjoyable as its own continuity. It's probably the reason why I just couldn't enjoy the Cybertron dub. I knew it wasn't supposed to be a follow up to Armada/Energon. The connections were forced and made no sense.

If velocitron is basically like the Netflix range it will be interesting to see if the voyages come with battlemasters (might bemore appropiate to include repainted micromasters but by all sounds of it Hasbro gave up on them)

With the addition of Override / Nitro Convoy that means we are basically only 2 convoys away from getting the 5 Galaxy Force Convoys updated.

Galaxy Convoy - Siege Cybertron Prime
Megalo Convoy - Legacy Metroplex
Nitro Convoy - Velocitron Override
Flame Convoy - Possible repaint / retool of upcoming dragon Megatron?
Live Convoy - ??? (new mold?)

If only Energon/Superlink hadn't been so terrible, then the folks making Galaxy Force wouldn't have been so ashamed of it as to try and separate Galaxy Force from Superlink, despite both Takara and Hasbro designing the third installment to be another sequel line.

This model sheet from early in the development of Galaxy Force shows that the Japanese animators knew good and well that "Guardshell" was meant to be a new design for the Superlink character named "Landmine" before his name was changed, as evidenced by the old name being written in parentheses next to his new name, along with Nitro Convoy's early name ("Speed Racer") likewise being written in parentheses next to his final name:
Image

Other early Galaxy Force names (along with placeholder names/decriptions for characters who didn't yet have any names at all at the time from either Takara or Hasbro) on this name chart reveal that Takara did intend for certain characters to be the same as those from Legends of the Microns and Superlink. All except for Sonic Bomber, who was definitely never supposed to be the same guy as Wing Saber (that's the one that never fit at all in the Cybertron version, even if the name is appropriate for the design):
Image

Takara also put out this special DVD promo to advertise the forthcoming Galaxy Force cartoon, which even attempted to bridge the gap between Superlink and Galaxy Force, opening with Galaxy Convoy speaking to the viewers about how peace has finally been reached (in reference to LOTM and Superlink) but now a new crisis has begun (the black hole). Unique artwork of LOTM and imagery of Superlink Grand Convoy are used to illustrate the past of Galaxy Force's present, as if to say that Galaxy Force was always another sequel according to this DVD short:

But then somewhere along the cartoon's development, someone decided to muck up Galaxy Force's continuity in order to distance it from the terrible Superlink cartoon, retaining only the broadest of strokes of story beats that Aaron Archer had come up with when he first conceived the storyline for Cybertron/Galaxy Force, while refraining from referring to anything explicit from the previous two series (e.g. - referring vaguely to some "evil god" who died as the cause of the black hole, instead of name-dropping Unicron specifically), in order to try and present itself as another series restart like Legends of the Microns had been.

And yet, despite this, the first episode still had Bud already know what a Transformer is upon first seeing Guardshell, before he was even properly introduced to him.

And to make matters even more confusing, the Japanese cartoon later started to put back in nods and references to both Legends of the Microns and Superlink in the show's later half, after having already tried to distance itself from the two:

Armada Unicron's debris
Image

Energon Alexis
Image

Armada Mini-Cons seen on a mural on the Giant Planet
Image

Among others. ;)

And all of this isn't even counting any of the attempts made by the English Cybertron version of the cartoon to tie it back into Armada and Energon. This is all just from the Japanese side of things.

So much confusion.

That would be a good use... but I'm thinking they may want to use Siege Springer for Evac. A reverse mold use if you will. Which would not work for Galvatron at all at that point.

As fan of Hot Rod and the recent toy I'm somewhat bummed abut not utilizing him for a retool of something else as I'd like to see what the designers come up with for alternate bot. As for Override I don't care for the design at all in either form, it's a weird looking car to say the least and looks like something straight out of Speed Racer while Bot mode looks like something out of Voltron. Which is fine and looks neat in that regard, it just doesn't appeal to me personally. Especially since I have no connection to the character.

In reality I should be thankful as it saves me Money otherwise I'd be in trouble if I wanted everything Hasbro released. lol
So I'll jut patiently wait for the potential Cosmos figure.

I did find it interesting this doesn't seem to be a retool considering this line was meant to be repaints/retools.

Forget it. Hasbro has made it abundantly clear that the old shaterred glass designs are dead and will not be revisited even if we have modern toys that look like this. Instead all shaterred glass toys from here on out relate to the characters as they appear in their original G1 bodies but with the shaterred glass colours.
And in some cases that makes these designs have a dual purpose since a few shaterred glass colour schemes were homaging variant colour schemes of older molds/toys.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it gives fans a lot of choices for their diaclone shelves.

Just realised I hadn't chimed in yet about Override. I got to admit, I was impressed when the image dropped. I'm curious as to where the leakers got the info about her being a retool of Hot Rod when on first glance (and because of how her head is behind the canopy) I mistakenly thought she was an elita-1 retool.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the reveals.

Upon comparing the new Override to the original toy, the new one's altmode does look a LOT worse, while the robot mode is much more show-accurately-proportioned, making it also slightly more feminine in its more slender physique, compared to the original toy's very WIDE torso:

Cybertron was the series I grew up on, so for me, this will be Override. And she looks absolutely fantastic! I was prepared for a compromise retool of Hot Rod, but to see the character get her own mold is amazing! Words cannot describe the level of excitement I feel that Cybertron characters are getting so much presence now!

I think Cybertron is available on Tubi TV for free (along with several other TF series, like Beast Wars) if anyone wants to try it out (You cold also probably find it on youtube somewhere). I highly recommend it, it shares many of the optimistic, entertaining tones of G1 while also being really unique and original among other installments in the franchise. I think it works well (better, even) as a stand alone series, so you don't need to watch Armada or Energon to appreciate it.

Yeah Bud knowing what a Transformer was, and the rest of the world oblivious ( but TFs had whole cities on Earth in Energon/SL), was just nonsense. Also I think you'd agree those screenshots from Galaxy Force are pretty much "blink and you'll miss it" moments, whereas Cybertron overtly tried to connect the series with dialogue, and some spurious screenshots of past series characters inserted into the last episode for good measure.

Of course, however someone wants to interpret things I guess is personal choice
The term UT (Unicron Trilogy) Is not a hill worth dieing on for me, However I made my peace a long time ago, definitely feeling that Galaxy Force is much more enjoyable as a stand alone series.

To be a little fair, all of the Cybertron Cities seen on Earth in Energon were only in remote, isolated locations on Earth away from the rest of the world, and all the humans who lived and worked at them were connected to the government. Ordinary cities with ordinary civilians were never featured in the show, so we have no idea what the outside world knew about the Transformers in that show. For all we know, the Cybertron Cities were one big government secret kept hidden from the rest of the world, explaining in part why they were built so far away from any other human civilization. Alas, the show was too incompetent to ever go into that.
