This is not a joke. There will be a channel coming where the only thing that will play on it will be the five live action Transformers films by Michael Bay, on a loop. Of course this channel will not be going on forever, it will only appear from June 8 to June 11 on Channel 404 for Australians subscribed to Foxtel Movies and Foxtel Platinum subscribers.

This pop up channel is in anticipation for the upcoming Bumblebee film and Foxtel films has had pop up channels before for the Pirates of the Caribbean, Fast and Furious and X-Men series just to name a few. Here is the description from Foxtel, as found on TV Tonight Australia.

The smash-hit movie franchise features an incredible lineup of international and Aussie stars including Shia LaBeouf, Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Tyrese Gibson, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Anthony Hopkins, Frances McDormand Rachael Taylor and Isabel Lucas as they battle it out on screen.

Join superhero robot Optimus Prime and the sensational Autobots in their fight against the villainous Decepticons, as the war to save the world begins on the Transformers Pop-Up movie channel from 6.00am on Friday, June 8 through to Monday, June 11 (Queens Birthday long weekend).

The epic weekend sees the five hit Transformers films play back-to-back, in anticipation of the spin-off movie Bumblebee which will see the Autobot warrior hit our screens in late 2018.

This might be a blessing in disguise. If it does nothing but show Bay movies, then what's the point of showing them on other channels? I mean, yeah, it's only for a limited time; but it's a limited time we should treasure.

Non-existent. Image

It's such a shame it's Australian only, the fanboy rage won't be as much fun to laugh at.

I was literally already sorta doing this with the lesser quality video versions I downloaded the other day to play in the background while I paint up my Studio figures. I have the far superior sharper quality ones on Blu Ray but those are much harder to loop being that there's this whole annoying procedure of physically changing discs in between each movie.

But yeah that channel sounds good to me if it were a thing I could actually have. These are my fave films so I like the idea of coming home from a stressful day and crashing down on my chair and just putting on my comfort films to cheer me up. Good times. But yeah I can make do with my own method even if not quite legal (i mean it helps that i legally own all the blu rays though, right?)

Isn't this about half a year too early to be getting people excited to go see Bumblebee? It's not coming out until almost the end of December.

Just in case anyone still doubted that Australia gets the rawest deal when it comes to Transformers Image

But for serious this doesn't actually sound bad. It's not really something that I'm interested in personally, beyond my complete bafflement that it exists, but it's not like it's hurting anyone either! Plus it sounds like there are quite a couple already on these boards who like the idea, so clearly it's a clever move for Foxtel. (I love the weirder news stories that come up sometimes  )

ADDENDUM: Actually, I wonder if this was a plan made a long time ago and never changed? That would explain why it's happening now despite Bee not coming out for a long time yet; the movie's original release date was around now, wasn't it? I can't remember for sure but I think that was the case, and would connect some of the dots here...
