are the fabs that much easier to transform than the deluxe toys? i also see no price value for the fabs in toy mags.

The FABS are basically Transformers for younger kids, with oversimplified transformations and big, bulky, kid-friendly robot modes. I never bought one but I think they're about the same price as a deluxe.

FABs are easier to transform. But they're for kids.

The only FAB that looks mature enough, with good enough tranformability is Brawl. I almost got him instead of Deluxe Brawl.

Yeah. Maybe they're assuming more kids will buy the toys than adults.

FABs are also much easier to disassemble to repaint. That, and the Blackout FAB is better than the Voyager, save for the humongoid head.

One thing i don't like about FAB is all of them have the same size.

Fabs are bulkier and much more rounded, so they are easier for smaller children to handle/play with. They can withstand more brutal forces when transforming (or throwing, crashing, dropping etc.), simple transformation & good use of locking tabs so the seams are minimized and all parts lock securely in place when in alt mode (my boy owns a Barricade & a Bumblebee, he can transform them without help at age 4).

Personally, I LOVE the FAB's.

You want a Frenzy that transforms into a stereo? CHECK.

You want a Ratchet without those big, boxy legs that the voyager has? CHECK.

You want a Brawl whose arms stay in place? CHECK.

You want an Ironhide whose chest doesn't spring out of shape every time you try to angle it just how it was in the movie? CHECK.

Although they are 'for the kids', the FABs shouldn't be overlooked. And many of them have the WOW factor. In a lot of transformers, you convert them, you're like, well okay, that was cool.

But some of the FABs have a WOW moment in the transformation. Remember when you found out where the front tyres were hidden in MP Optimus? WOW!!

Remember when you first flipped over G1 Sandstorm's big backplate to reveal the helicopter underneath? WOW!!

Remember when you first popped a G1 Seeker's nosecone through his chest and out the other side? WOW!!

For me, the biggest WOW moments in the entire movie line are FAB Ratchet (rotate the front grille, and - WOW - the entire upper torso transforms automatically) and FAB Frenzy (flip the who halves of his body round to his back and - WOW - he's a boombox).

For me, no other movie toys do it for me the way those two do (except maybe the Target G1 Jazz redeco).

Admittedly there are a few bad FAB moulds (Jazz, Starscream), but the majority kick ass. It's a shame that most fans just kinda sneer at them and say 'oh, yeah, those are just for the kiddies'.

The FABs are the overlooked gems of the movie line, IMO

I never own any FAB yet. Does this mean this line also have Automorph?

Yep, they have Automorph.

Examples:

Jazz: flip down the chest, and the front grille extends out (a bit like the deluxe version)

Ratchet: rotate the front grille, and the arms fold out, and the chest transforms automatically.

Starscream: Fold up the nosecone, and the wings fold back.

Brawl: Transform the gun turret into the arms, and the chest transforms.

Optimus Prime: Snap the torso into position, and the arms fold out.
