Looking at it again, I honestly think this mold looks better on Breakdown than it did on Bulkhead. Its a better fit for the character.

Turns out it's Prime Breakdown. That's an unexpected turn of events.

I wonder if this was some intentional misleading to prevent leaks?

If it was, it failed. Leaks happened. Just got one name wrong.

They may have provided 1 incorrect name to locate a source of a leak, who knows.

Also, Breakdown has his hammer, he is complete for the set.

So the Hammer micron is not his?

If so, then why is there a Hammer micron at all?

The insecticons don't carry hammers. At least not Chopshop or Barrage.

And Venom, if this is meant as a nod to him, carried an Axe, not a hammer.

Hammer is not his, no idea why they included it.

But, if you look, the hammer has the Solus Prime symbol right on their head, and the extra effects part helps give the impression this is not just a hammer, but a forge.

In short: somehow it is a teaser for the Prime line next year

Ahh, o.k, makes less sense... somehow. :BANG_HEAD: :HEADHURTS:

But I guess The Forge of Solus Prime would need to exist for the 13 Primes in some way. just a very strange way.

According to the product description, the little hammer Battle Master that comes with the Insecticons is actually an Autobot Wrecker.

Perfect, I can pass them off to the Wreckers then, since a majority of my Smashdowns ended up there too.

New Transformers Legacy toys were revealed today. Like what we've had for years now, Amazon has multipacks made up of redecos and retools. One of these, however, is a pretty big deal. Unlike Amazon's usual way of mixing different types of characters forcing people to buy multiple packs to complete sets (like the Kingdom two packs) the two hotly anticipated G1 Bandai insecticons, Chop Shop & Barrage, are in the same pack. It also comes with a redeco of Siege Smashdown.

The other multipack has Prime Breakdown using the Legacy Prime Bulkhead mold and the "previously thought to be cancelled" Windsweeper as a redeco of the Needlenose mold.

Here are the preorder links below from Amazon.com, which is the only place you can currently get these.

I'm underwhelmed by Breakdown. I didn't like the mold as Bulkhead and I don't like it here. Windsweeper looks okay, but I don't need him.

I'm eager to get Chop Shop and Barrage though. The deluxe insecticons have always looked cool, and I intentionally skipped the Legacy Insecticons because I'm fine with my Prime Wars ones, so these will be new molds to me.

Breakdown feels just lazy. Nice to see the Deluxe Insecticons, now how about giving us a revamped Venom too?

And now we're glad we picked up the Prime Breakdown re-issue a few years ago. The colours and headsculpt on the Legacy one are spot-on but that's it.

May pick up the insecticons if we find them cheap.

Did they just forget to paint Windsweeper's targetmasters?

They didn't forget, they are attempting to make them the equivalent of his flip out guns which were silver

Since he's not really supposed to have any, maybe the chrome's a literal reflection of his OCD? He keeps them polished and shiny because their function is to constantly clean his office/surroundings, like sentient scrubbing bubbles!

Or it's just because his Triggercon guns were chromed on his G1 toy.

Either way, he's a character I've always wanted to see explored further. It'll never happen, but I'd be overjoyed if the upcoming pre-war movie actually depicted him as Cybertron's sanitation director. The only thing I'd love more is seeing Alpha Trion and Emirate Xaaron both have seats on Iacon's high council and get into a shouting match.

Not a bad set. Especially Windsweeper.

Windsweeper and the Insecticons look amazing, especially the latter, and I’m a sucker for that Smashdown mold. The detail and heads are spot on, they’ll be a must grab.

But wow, they just kinda gave up on Breakdown. It is somewhat amusing that he’s a retool and repaint of Bulkhead given their history in the show, but he’s definitely a bit of a letdown.

We might see that - Venom was mentioned in the listings for next year. I hope it's a NEW mold though. As interested as I was in seeing updates for Chopshop and Barrage - I was worried they were just going to revamp the Shrapnel/Bombshell mold. And my fears were justified it turns out. They are indeed just Shrapnel and Bombshell with different colors and a couple different parts remolded here and there.

It's not enough to make me want to buy them (which is just as well, since they're already sold out). I've pretty much had my fill of the Shrapnel/Bombhsell mold with the Legacy Insecticon trio. I want to say, "There's NO WAY they would retool Shrapnel yet again and use him to make Venom" - but Hasbro probably would. Either that, or they'd re-hash the Kingdom Waspinator mold, which wasn't very good.

Yeesh - if they could make customized rear legs for Barrage, why didn't they do that for Bombshell? Instead of using those lame-o gun accessories as his back 'legs'.

Who else would they have been retooled from? This is an Amazon-exclusive subline and those are always retools instead of new molds.

No they aren't.

Gave in and pre-ordered Chop Shop and Barrage. Due in August according to Amazon.

Not sure I'll go in on Breakdown and Windsweeper though.

Gotta say, Bulkhead in blue look great... in vehicle mode only.

The mold just does NOT work for any Prime characters. So, if I ever pick this one up, I'll head-swap this for another character.

Ah~~

Ignore us then :P Completely forgot he was a Triggercon and not a targetmaster.

Got a preorder in for the Insecticons.
Imo those look great and between the colors and retooled parts, they look very different from their original mold mates.

I kind of wish Windsweeper was done in Needlenose’s colors…. Especially with that face sculpt, he looks more like an Autobot to me. It’s a good-looking figure overall, but with more of an Autobot appearance, not sure I’ll bite. Especially with that Breakdown. *yawn*
That face/headsculpt & the rest of the figure clash badly.

Not knowing the character I went back and looked to see for myself and I honestly don't feel that Bulkhead is a very good reuse for Breakdown, at all. Even if it's a realistic/live action take on a Prime character I feel as if they should have used something else entirely, or not even bothered until they had something more accurate to utilize. I'm guessing that Hasbro hasn't yet seen a return on that mold so they needed something to take the bullet? lol

I mean is there any other lesser known character that would have made more sense to reuse Bulkhead for?

He'd make a good G1-ified AOE/TLK Hound I think.
