The Unicron Battles - The Armada/Energon/Cybertron Toys Appreciation Thread

I realized we did not have a thread for these yet, and I wanted to make one to blab about this new toy I got.

Energon Landmine is such a good toy. The alt mode is really unique and really big, with some cool gimmicks and stylings! The transformation is fun, and the regular robot mode and brute mode are wonderful. This is truly a great toy!

Yeah, he's pretty good. Definitely a unique mold. I actually preferred the Botcon version when it comes to color scheme, but I like orange as well.

In my opinion, Armada Starscream is the best Starscream figure ever, not counting Masterpiece. Siege comes close, as does the HFTD leader, but Armada is better.

The Armada Seeker mold is glorious. It lacks full shoulder rotation, outward movement at the hips and shoulders, but is amazing aside from that. The Cybertron Starscream mold is cool too, but it's dragged down by some of its own arm limits and the fact that moving pectoral guns were sacrificed to make room for a soundbox that was ultimately cut.

Energon Landmine looks pretty cool. I only have his claws and crane, sadly.

Cybertron Snarl is glorious and I'm thrilled to have mine back in commission.

Now I need to finish the restoration work on my Armada Optimus.. Both finishing undoing the clumsy Nemesis Prime repaint, and repairing the wire connections I damaged while dismantling the cab to strip the paint off...

At the moment, I'm waiting for the right time to buy Energon Sharkticon, and the "Standoff beneath the streets" set that has Evac-Springer and Rat-Ways.

Armada Dead End is my favorite Armada mold. I have a Unicron just full of these guys. Although I did miss out on the Bug Drone version, sadly. I'll get him if I ever find him.

FULL of Dead End? Even with him costing $20 and up on eBay?

Are you also hoarding Armada Downshifts?
*ahem*

What would you sell or trade a Dead End for?

Yes, full of Dead Ends. Both sides. And two Energon Dead Ends to be Primus' moons. I found someone selling a Universe Kranix I didn't think I'd see, so I have one extra Dead End with nowhere to go. I finished him up just last year and yes - it cost way too much.

That's the price of obsession.

I do have Energon Downshift and Botcon SG Wheeljack. I dunno what I'd trade anything for. I've never really done trades and have just hoarded stuff.

I said Armada Downshift, not Energon downshift. Armada Downshift is a member of the Race Mini-Con Team, the group who form the Skyboom Shield. And he's decidedly harder to find than the other two members of the team (who I already have) for no apparent reason.

My own Armada Unicron (who stands on a shelf with Titans Return Galvatron, Scourge, 1x Sweep, Triggerhappy, Sixshot, Weirdwolf, Skullcruncher, Mindwipe, and Universe Cyclonus) is complete except for Dead End.

Whenever I finally get Primus, his moons will be represented by a couple of yellow golf balls (at least until the 3P companies start giving the Unicron Trilogy some more long-overdue love and make a set of moons with energy ropes for him).

Oh, the bottom part of the Skyboom Shield. Yeah, I have that guy and the other two from way back. But only one of him. I don't know most Mini-con's names.

My advice is to look for generic minicon lots. Sometimes you find what you want.

Actually, Downshift is the top part:

I do check for generic lots too, but..

Regarding the Dead Ends, I don't suppose you have any need for a Classics Mirage who's missing the front spoiler?

On a different note, man do I wish 3P would make replacement legs for Leobreaker already.

Nope, I have Classics Mirage too. It's off topic, but I really like that guy and will never replace him. Even if he's not super G1.

He actually is super G1 (in fact, transformation-wise he's way more G1 than the SIEGE figure), it's one of the things that really appealed to me about him. His downsides are his proportions, lack of 5mm hands, and the ankle balljoints not wanting to stay tight. Still, he's my favorite of the Classics/Universe 2008 Autobots.
I just happen to have an extra of him because my first one went missing and I bought a replacement, only for the first one to turn up later.

The proportions are what I man by "not super G1". I kinda dig that about him. The only argument I have to replace him is that I also have his mold mate Fracture, so replacing him would make him more unique.

But ... we're digressing.

So I'll dive back on topic on saying why I love Dead End so much.

I'm a sucker for Ballformers. Unicron to his Minicon to the Cyclone mini-cons - I love 'em. But I also really dig DE's transformation. It's intuitive but does exactly what it needs to. He has great articulation - which isn't always the case with TFs that small. And I even like how he integrates with Unicron. I love how his rings look full of Dead Ends - obviously.

My favorite version has to be the green one from the recent "reissue". I'm a sucker for metallic colors and he has plenty of that!

Yeah, Dead End is a cool guy and my Unicron is incomplete without him.

IMO the most disappointing Unicron Trilogy figure is Supreme-class Starscream.
Supreme Starscream is an official OSKO if there ever was one. People who complain about SIEGE Jetfire not doing enough for the size and price should take a good hard look at this guy. He does nothing to improve on the Voyager's articulation (and in fact, his shoulder articulation is actually a little more restricted), he's the only Supreme-class mold without articulated hands... Really the only improvement he makes is the pectoral cannons actually move.
To make matters worse, since Starscream didn't get giant size in the show until after the halfway point... Hasbro gave Overhaul and Jetfire the wrong keys and only released the Voyager version as part of a two-pack (and in Thrust colors rather than show-accurate colors) to try and make what was at first an oversize-for-no-reason Starscream more appealing.

I can 100% endorse Energon Sharkticon. Normally I like to have some interest in a character or their fictional appearances to feature them in my collection, but Sharkticon is so cool that I gladly make an exception. Solid articulation, neon colors, a warship mode with articulated turrets... yeah, this guy is awesome.

Right now my only UT toy is the Cybertron Deluxe Unicron, which is a very lovely figure...that I will never dare to transform back to tank mode due to its plastic risking breakage. He's the Unicron of my collection since the massive HasLab Unicron was utterly out of my budget. I also got him purely due to his novelty status and design as some sort of of 'reforming' or embryonic Unicron.

That face. He's creepy, man. So creepy.

He's been retooled with a G1-styled head:
