Got to mess around with Suiken some more, and he is definitely the best of the trains so far.

for one thing, his transformation is much more straightforward and enjoyable compared to the others. His robot mode proportions are also strong. and his colors rock.

I also put him in arm and ankle winglet mode, and it looks pretty good. I really like how the robot mode thighs become the combiner connection, and the robot chest and arms form the combiner forearm.

Also, you can use the combiner hand to create some entertaining robot modes

I also love how all of his and Raiden's weapons store in the front portion of the train that disconnects to form the ankle piece

So, with the first limb combination, I'm beginning to see more complications. The connection is fairly stable, but I think Im glad I ordered the deluxe Kaen with the stand. Not sure if Raiden when fully formed will be able to support his own weight.

He wouldn't be the first. As stupid as I am for a combiner set, the gestalt forms have always been a bit wobbly at best. My Elita 1 is so loose, Orthia (or whatever her name is) is being held together with pipe cleaners and has to lean against the back of the bookshelf or she'd fall apart.

I haven't needed any stands yet, but the upgrade kit I got for Volcanicus has worked wonders.

Yeah Orthia and Combined Starscream from PotP are pretty bad. Mine are are standing on their own, but their backs are arched like they are going to limbo.

Overall however, I agree with D-Maximal_Primal. Suiken is fun in that he is not overly-complicated, and the Bot form as well as the train actually look good. Even transforming him into an arm wasn't that bad.

All of the Combiner Wars figures suffer from a lean because there's too much space between the teeth of the ratchets.

Oddly, my combined Starscream is tight and stands straight. At one point, I considered posing them with him holding her up like a dude getting his drunk girlfriend home.

Anyway, I should be basking the glow of Suiken's awesomeness today.

Well Seizan seems to either have little fanfare, or people are just slow to review him. I know he is very similar to the previous Trainbot Suiken, but the arms seem to be the bets developed of the set so far.

I know there is some doom and glomo hanging over this set. I'm having doubs myself about the final combined form, especially since now that I have the arms attached to Gesuei ther support is pretty unstable, even if the connection itself is solid.

I seriously doubt there will be Generations Trainbots any time soon whihc is why I supported this project. However there are some highlights, The sword os really cool as are the many other weapon accessories.

Its going to be a long 5 months wait for Kain. While those who ordered individually on Amazon Japan will start getting him in January. Those of us who ordered the deluxe bos on Hasbro Pulse will have to wait until March at least (possibly later due to delays which often happen with imports.

Im hoping at least the stands provide some stability.

The engineering (trains . . . engineering . . . ha!) is pretty interesting and surprisingly complicated. I had a hell of a time getting Seizan's shoulder joints in the right place when transforming him to Raiden arm mode, but that might just be because of the Japanese language, postage-stamp sized instructions. The connection to Shouki is creative, but there is a lot of stuff in the way of posing Raiden's arms in any dynamic way. Par for the course with combiners. Still, Raiden's completed upper half looks pretty cool to me and I'm pleased so far. Looking forward to Kaen and getting this guy finished.

On a somewhat related note, is there any combined mode for the butt load of guns that come with these guys? I don't remember seeing anything about it.

Well a couple of them combine to form the Raiden Bazooka but that was shown in previous instructions. As for all the others, not that I'm aware of. I think its neat they found creative ways to store them all in Train Mode, but as for storage in Combined mode...nope, I think there's going to be a LOT of loose Gun accessories.

Yeah, I'm not finding very many (any) places to peg in the smaller, grey guns - only the 3 piece black one.

Finally opened by Seizan. He's pretty good. I liked this mold as Suiken, and this one is good too. I like the little faceplate, and the sword is cool. Not bad at all.

I am looking forward to Kaen a lot.

I tell you what, the trainbots are taking up a lot of room on the MP general shelf. And what's sad is, they will most likely go somewhere else once Kaen arrives and they can combine

I'm a little confused because the bot is the character Silver, but the train colors are Doctor Yellow (a special train in Japan for diagnosing track issues) which is what fellow prototype member Doctor is based on. Because of this weird amalgamation I doubt we'll be getting a full prototype team.

Whatever the case, we should get an official announcement later tonight (Friday in Japan).

I'm torn on this. I don't really want it, but There is some intrigue as to if they are going to release just this one, or the whole set again in alternate colors ?

Doctor Yellow trains are BIG and train fans line up when one is spotted, so it's no real surprise that deco is chosen for the leader Shouki (even though it was Yukikaze that had it as an alternate deco in Diaclone). Also, it doesn't look like that's Silver, but rather a new character (or a new form for Shouki) called "Gin'ou".

:EDIT: Aaaaand I just read that out of the two Shinkansen models in the line, it's the "0"-series, or Shouki, that's used for Doctor Yellow trains, not the "200"-series or Yukikaze. Model Train fans will be pleased. :x

"Gin'ou" means silver king in Japanese. I think the new name simply means he's been upgraded or something.

The manga that was written to advertise the first three Trainbot releases also introduced a second team of prototype Trainbots that use the color schemes of the second Diaclone team. So there are two teams, now.

There's a second Diaclone team, so three teams total then? So the first Diaclone team is lead by Doctor and the second by Gin'ou? That's a little much, Takara Tomy...

Doctor (or possibly Silver) is probably going to become Ginou, like how Shouki's original name in the story was "Mach".

Agreed. I'm tempted, but not overly so. If there was a second set so I wouldn't have a dismembered torso, or it made a significant change to Raiden's appearance (or at least more than I can make out in the photo,) I might be on board - no pun intended.

As it is, Raiden feels like he's taken far too long to complete. I'm not particularly interested in doing this again for just a recolor.

I wouldn't count on there being more recolors of the Trainbots, unless they were derived from colors of the actual trains, like Gin'ou is as I explained before.

Well, right on the heels of MPG-07, TT reveals MPG-08

https://takaratomymall.jp/shop/g/g4904810909040/

Transformers Masterpiece MPG-08 Trainbot Yamabuki.

The new combiner head sculpt on this is really cool. But also done in Yellow, it appears *if* they plan on redoing all the Trainbots in this yellow deco, it will be mor uniforms, but I don't feel compelled to own them. Plus, it was just fortunate circumstances that i was able to afford all 6 MPG for Raiden. That is not longer possible for these new ones. So I'm ok not having them, even though i do like the retools and new accessories, it doesn't justify getting the whole team over again.
