Some stragglers from the news out of Wonderfest 2017, in Tokyo, Japan, include the Takara Tomy Masterpiece and Unite Warriors line - the second update is about the last set in the Unite Warriors line, UW-EX Baldigus / Ruination, which reuses the Combaticons and Bruticus' molds in a new colours scheme. Check it all out below via Twitter user chromless!

Maybe I fell asleep in class, but I didn't realize he came with Computron's hands/feet.

He looks so good, but DANG I'm so done with CW/UW.

And UW Scattershot's new guns. And the extra guns that came with the UW versions of the Constructicons. ;)

So am I, I never combined UW Bruticus or Computron. The guns, hands and feet should've come with those sets too.

Every time I see this thing I look at my CW G2 Bruticus with disdain.

it's cos of the ankle tilts on this one that i skipped out on CW bruticus - already have defensor so I kinda know how irritating he is to pose... hoping the new feet will help.

CW onslaught is going rather cheap here and there it seems so I am tempted to get him...

Curse you whoever took the pics of the box! You can get all of the back, but you cant take a straight picture of the front of the box! :BANG_HEAD: ...sorry just venting...

The toy itself looks amazing though, cant wait until the end of March

Well, I've just bite the bullet on Megatronia. Let's see how she is. I don't have Victorian but the paint scheme on this one looks so good. And Megatronia looks so much nicer to me than Victorian's colours. And honestly, these gals have a much more memorable personality.

Not only is "Baldigus" kept instead of using "Ruination", but notice that both "Destronger" and "Combatron" are kept as well.

I suppose, but it's interesting that they kept those when all the other UW boxed sets used Westernized names and terms for the teams, team members, and combiners themselves.

Probably because there isn't much difference between "Destron" and "Decepticon" Devastar vs Devastator etc...

Takara often (but admittedly not always) followed Hasbro's naming convention, but in the case of CR/Rid- Takara named all the characters first, Hasbro basically threw them all out and renamed all of them. TT should keep it as Baldigus, IMHO. Ruination always just sounded off to me for some reason

"Guardian" vs "Defensor"? "Buildron" vs. "Constructicon"?

like I said, they mostly (but not always) used Romanization of Hasbro names, but in either case, I think they are just going with *what came first* except in the case of Convoy, Grand Galvatron, Megatronia, and Lynx Master which are basically new characters.

Takara named all the characters in CR first. Takara *adapted* all characters from Hasbro's Transformers, sometimes Romanizing the name, sometimes creating their own (which seems to be aabout a 70/30 split...looking at character names from 1984-1986...just by a rough guess)

I think it has more to do with TakaraTomy's design team acknowledging that CR and the RiD 2001 dub are not directly connected continuity-wise. CR is considered part of G1, while RiD is in its very own, expanded, universe.
To keep the two versions of the characters apart, the original Japanese names are used for the G1 versions, while the US ones are for the RiD natives. Makes sense, as the dub by nature introduced quite a few differences and steers the original story in some odd directions. Kind of reminds me of Hyaukujuoh Golion into Voltron.

Got my Megatronia today. Very nice. Never got Victorion, but I'm liking these remoulds. The combined sword is really nice, especially in that gold paint. Megaempress is my favourite of the set, she looks so awesome, especially with her rail cannon over teh shoulder. And she has the arm articulation to hold it up (yes, I know all of this mould does but they don't use the ladder like that). With Moonheart a close second. Although Lunarclub does look awesome dual weilding the large swords. Overall, a very nice set, and a much better colour scheme than the pastels of Victorion. And the combined mode can point! And has articulated fingers! I was not expecting that.

It is a small shame the changed the combiner wars style/hand foot guns for those of us who like the toys functions in non-combined mode.

As the tank mode's auxiliary cannons are made out of the hand-foot-gun so missing that out leaves the tank looking a little nude - I also kind like the H.F.G. as an option on the jeep too.

Unfortunately the appropriate H.F.G's don't exist in gold, but the darker ones from some of the other moulds should do.

The other use people don't seem to notice you can put H.F.G's too is as base decoration as little towers or guns.

Hopefully someone will sell their Baldigus on under £100 sometime next year when they loose interest in it, or perhaps I can get one in a sale. I don't really £130.00 want one though.

I am oddly disappointed by the lack of proper camo on them. I kinda hoped they'd get more camouflagey details on them ala the original toys. Still, they look good, and if my Megaempress turns out to be a solid product I MIGHT get him.
