no no cobo! what said was the rumor of prowl being in CW but not as devy, gives credence to your prime combiner theory ;)

BAM!

The only flaw in your team plan is that at the minute moment, I doubt prowl is going to play ball with prime ;)

Toy companies are CRAZY about non-disclosure. I worked for a small toy design and invention studio in Chicago for a bit. I've never worked in a more guarded and paranoid environment. Don't know why Hasbro would be worried about it. They own every IP and TM and CW related to TF there is, and it's not like these toys are "never before seen". They're re-imagined versions of old toys. It's just embedded in toy maker culture.

Plus, if they told us, we would have nothing to talk about for the next 6 months?

Pardon my ignorance, would anyone mind defining/explaining "scramble city"?
thanx

I once worked at a large electronics/software company (that shall not be named). What you dealt with is mild compared to how it was working there.

I don't doubt it.
Especially when patents come into play.

The fiction is written to support the toy line. So if they want to make a Prowl toy that combines with an OP toy, they'll just tell the writers to work that into a storyline. No big deal.

Even if Hasbro doesn't officially do an Autobot cars team for Combiner Wars Optimus Prime, I can see this as a project the TFCC would take on down the line a ways, especially if they can simply redeco the Stunticons and tool a few new heads as needed. Honestly, Hasbro is sitting on a gold mine right now with the possibilities for reuse of these molds. It's an exciting time to be a Transformers fan! :)

I posted this in the NYCC Coverage thread a while back.
Cobotron wrote:WAIT! I got it. We are on the train to Repaintsville, next stop Headresculptopolis, right?
Breakdown - Sideswipe
Dragstrip - Mirage
Offroad - Ironhide OK. He can be a pick'm up truck.
Deadend - Jazz? Wheeljack? Tracks?? maybe Prowl? :???:

Well, box 'em up. Call it exclusive. Jack up the price. Shake Target's hand. Merry X-mas$
Send me one for thinking of it.

Anybody wanna play along?

If they're going for the G1 episode "Masquerade", they should be:

Breakdown: Sideswipe
Drag Strip: Dead End
Dead End: Jazz
Offroad: Windcharger

Windcharger is the odd one out, I know.

They could also create new characters or go back to micromasters for names. I can see the 2016 club exclusives coming from these and botcon toys (maybe an operation: combination set ;))

At the very least yet another G2-decoed Breakdown. Seriously, given the amount of figures with that name, he's become the unofficial BotCon mascot, no matter how much he doesn't like the prospect of it

It refers to the style of combiners featured in the 1985 season of the original Transformers cartoon. Superion, Menasor, Defensor, and Bruticus had a similar design of a larger, central figure being the torso and head of the robot, while the other four members form the arms and legs. However, you can make any of those four smaller robots any of those appendages (arms or legs), so each gestalt has multiple configurations. Plus, they were cross compatible, thanks to a universal system of ports and pegs, so you could mix and match from different teams. This wasn't advertised in the cartoon proper, but it was the crux of the Japanese only featurette "Scramble City," hence the moniker for this particular kind of combiner design. Scramble City also featured Metroplex and Trypticon. Interestingly enough, the original G1 Metroplex was ALSO compatible with the "Scramble City" combiners. There are various ways you can kind of stick them on to Metroplex's body for some kind of "powered up" mode. I think this is the result of the toys being designed for such cross-play compatibility for Diaclone. When Transformers took off, the toys were repurposed as new characters for the ever expanding franchise. Again, the feature wasn't emphasized by Hasbro, beyond Metroplex's instruction sheet, but it was given more attention when released by Takara.

The scramble city combiners weren't from Diaclone. They were some of the first new sculpt Transformers. Devastator and Raiden were the only combiners from Diaclone used in G1.

Technically the Scramble City molds were actually carried over from the aborted Diaclone line "Jizai Gattai" (Free Combination). So they WOULD have been Diaclone figures...but they were never released for that line.

As explained before Metroplex and the first four Scramble City combiners (Bruticus, Menasor, Superion and Defensor) were originally Diaclone designs, but used for Transformers instead. The Team Leaders (Onslaught, Motormaster, Silverbolt and Hot Spot) could connect to Metroplex's City Mode via their third Base Modes, while the limbs could connect to Metroplex in Robot Mode via hidden sockets in the legs and shoulders.

Yes, from all four teams.

Diaclone had a couple combining sets, but aside from Raiden and Devastator, none had individual robot modes:

- DiaBattles
- Battle Buffalo
- Big Powered
- Gats Blocker
- Warudoros

Jelze, you are amazing. You're like our very own Rewind.
You just confirmed something awesome for me. I have a bunch of the parts for Gats Blocker. Now I have reference to see if I have the whole thing. It's probably a KO of some sort, but it would still be cool If its complete.
Those two websites are great too. Had never seen them before. Always need more Microman reference.
Well done friend! :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE:

With 2015 being "Combiner Wars" year, might the Go mold possibly make good store exclusives at some point? They're existing molds that have never had a stateside release, and with seven individual robots and eight different combined forms, it'd also be a good way to guard some trademarks.

shajaki wrote:so... taken with a grain of salt of coarse... we'll have a prime torso, that much we know for sure. and if prowl is part of CW, but not part of devastator, it could could give more leeway to the notion of a "prime+G1 car bots" combiner. which i assume would be retooled stunticons.

:-?

WAIT!
Don't lose hope.
Rumor: LEADER class Magnus.
Why is he a leader class? Sure he's a big guy.
What if its because he can wrap around Voyager Prime.?.?...

What if combining in the Combiner Wars isn't restricted to Gestalt?

Keep hope alive Nemesis!
You got the touch!

Also - Our "make believe" Prime/G1 set could come with a white Magnus repaint of voyager Prime.
Now that I think of it, IMO, I want that instead.

Late on Friday afternoon, Hasbro shared new official images of six figures from the highly anticipated Generations COMBINER WARS, which should start hitting online and brick-and-mortar retailers starting in December. This set of images includes robot mode, vehicle mode, and in-package images of the following figures: Optimus Prime, Silverbolt, Firefly, Skydive, Alpha Bravo and Dragstrip. This is the first time that we've seen in-package images of the Deluxe Class figures. While the packaging of the Voyagers sport a sharp looking black and red color scheme, the Deluxe Class figures each sport a very nice piece of artwork. Check out the images below or click on any of the images to view a larger version. Enjoy!

Well I absolutely love all of the aerialbots, especially skydive, I think that figure would make an amazing Machine Wars Megatron/Megaplex. However, I'm not to keen on Dragstrip. I don't know, I think (?) i'd like it better if Dragstrip were a chick, like the stunticon job boxset. I know it goes against the IDW canon, but still It'd be cool, I want more fembots.

Stupid Question but I would have to wait until wave two to complete one team? I understand why they're doing waves like this but as a reviewer it's kinda annoying.
