I've made me peace that BB is a big face of the franchise. Beacomber fits the alt. mode, but paying $100+ for him hurts. And then you have a guy all about pacifism paired with a Joe? If they're going to make these name TFs then they may as well go for the big names.

Exactly, I don't see why it's that surprising really. Bee sells, end of. Now if they go for larger figures (should they continue) then we could see Prime and Starscream.

Now there's a HasLab project

Well forget a transforming Flagg. Just having a Flagg SCALE ACCURATE to the classic action figures and jets would be epic enough. 8-)

If I did my math correctly, a 3.5 inch figure scale accurate USS Flagg would be a tad over 53 feet long.

That could never be a HASLAB, but it could be a unique project Hasbro could make in celebration of a Joe Renaissance. Only one made, exposed at Hasbro HQ or something in an epic display.

That COULD be cool. Charge admission to see it. But that's the same length as a freaking full-length semi trailer and probably would be at least double the width of one.

Now THAT'S a Broadside I'd like to see.... 8-}

Yeah well as much as Bee does sell there is a possibility of oversaturation simply due to people not really needing another version. It makes more sense to go with Beachcomber here period. Especially since they already did a Nest Jeep version of Bee as it is.

At any rate they were so close to doing Hound here it's hilarious, I just hope we get a G1 version sooner rather than later when Deluxe is $40...

At any rate this item is simply not worth almost $70 to me, not when they include a 1980's $4 figure added to a Voyager class at best bot.

It makes sense to use a pacifist? If Bee hadn't oversaturated years ago, then I doubt this cause it to happen.

Contrary to Megatron, changing that Bee for another character will require very little work.

I'm pretty sure some smart-ass will make a 3D printed upgrade kit with a new head. Then some Reprolabels to cover the little bit of yellow and voila, a brand new character!

Those Retro O-ring figures are priced at $20 each, and they come on their own cardbacks. Also height /= class, and these Joe crossover figures have few of the features that are incorporated into traditional Generations figures, so I wouldn't even try to compare, it's apples and oranges.

But if it was aimed at collectors, why bother with the average person? A collector would most likely know who either Hound or Beachcomber is.
ANYTHING to bump the bottom line...
Exactly. That's why I think this was aimed more at the average consumer than collectors, especially older fogies like us. I'm likely in the minority, but I'm tired of Bee (especially Bayverse Bee) infecting all facets of the franchise. But like you said, the bottom line is the boss, and in the last 15 years Bee has been a cash cow.

Bumblebee, the best character to introduce people to toys they otherwise wouldn't touch, exposing them to new things they may like and buy more of.

In other words, it's Bumblebee that should have appeared as a new Herald of Unicron in the original Marvel comics instead of that trio ;)

To go further on the Beachcomber debate:

In regards to collecting, these guys are more Joe toys than TFs. Scale-wise they go with nothing in a TF collection. I really don't see them making many of these. In a limited, premium, line the TF you go with is ... Beachcomber? So your shelf has Megatron on one side and Beachcomber on the other?

I mean, I get it. Beachcomber has the more fitting alt mode. And we have a LOT of Bee. Nevertheless, I think they're right to go with a popular character. I'm going to assume we'll get an Optimus at a later point. Maybe he'll be paired with Starscream (although that jet is huuuuuge, so maybe not).

Not to mention just because a character is recognizable doesn't mean they're a character people are going to want to buy. Beachcomber is a good character, but not exactly the face of the Autobots that's capable of pushing a limited line of figures.

I 100% agree that this one should be Bee. Optimus Prime would not be fitting for a dunebuggy. Plus I think the designers thought about modders because there's not much to mod here to turn him into Beachcomber or anyone else.

EB Games Australian pre-order
$118AUD. Don't care enough to waste money on it.

This one gave me some issues. I was indifferent to it from the get go, but then someone pointed out that this is essentially a G1 TLK WWII Bumblebee, and then I preordered it. But then I cancelled when I realized just how not really worth the money it is. It's just too much for something I am mostly indifferent to.

Dang, I feel like the odd one out. I actually like how it looks and dig that they're making these. Event went out to get the newer 6" Joes since I'm not a big fan of how the original ones actually look. Or which characters they chose, really.

My only real issue is the shape of his chest (looks like a stack of Lego bricks) and I would have preferred black instead of yellow on the hands.

Meanwhile, the Amazon.ca listing for the Bee is taking it's sweet time. What's up with that?

PvP have his review up.

He's not the first and both reviewers have the box. So it means that set may be getting out in the wild more and more as sellers cheat with it's official release date.

I'm sure someone will make a better custom eventually
But I don't know of any transformers who's alt modes even Resemble the H.I.S.S. tank. I think I've seen some based on star wars crossover figures, but those are bad as this megatron

But I think I know the perfect way to make a rolling thunder optimus prime.

Yes, I am aware this is an oldish thread, but where else would I post this?

While I made the optimus digbash a while ago, I started a new Megatron immediately after uploading it. I think it's much better than the official Collab version.

I'm sure you all know what a H.I.S.S. tank looks like, so I won't upload that. As for the cannon, It would probably come with a g1 arm cannon and hiss tank turret, both swappable for robot and alternate mode, however you see fit.

Based on a custom hiss tank Ironhide. http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/customs_specific_item.php?kind=vehicle&alpha=I&id=109
