I just want them to look good on a shelf next to other Transformers and I think these will do the part. I pre-ordered ones that I thought would work well at the 7" Voyager height and likely wont get a good figure from Hasbro so Banzaitron, Bludgeon, Tarn, Alligaticon, and Grimlock (who's 9").

For me, this line and RED just miss the mark for the most part. Making better Action Masters is a nice idea, but any TF really has to transform.

The Aligaticon is the only one of these kind of figures that's tempting. I have a 3rd party one, though, and I'm happy with that for this kind of character. They'd have to get that level of niche. Maybe I'd get more Quintessons.

Loved Banzai-Tron back in the day, but this update screwed up his mouthplate: it's supposed to look like it was carved into a mouth with fangs, emulating some actual samurai armor face guards. This slight inversion would look OK, if someone hadn't missed the point. I was going to get some of these, but now I'll pass unless there's an affordable 3P replacement head for my favorite Action Master.

I LOVE what Super 7 is doing for Thundercats, and the whole ReAction line, but these TFs aren't quite living up to the "Ultimate" moniker.

I opened up my Banzai-tron, and he's basically exactly what I was looking for, a scaled-up Action Master. The articulation is more limited than I was expecting, but I think that's mostly due to the priority on the sculpt, which I can't find fault with. It still has the basics down, and I'm not planning to do anything too wild with him. I'm only getting one figure per wave, and due to the cost and the figure style, I think that's a good fit for my collection.

For those curious about scale, he's almost exactly the same height as Siege Megatron, just a smidge taller. His humanoid proportions are a little oversized--he has a bigger head, and some of his body segments are larger--so he feels scaled a little bigger even when he's not taller. He'll stand out in a Generations collection for his design much more than for his size.

Super7 Transformers Ultimates Wave 4 Revealed

While the first wave of Super7's Transformers Ultimates lineup is hitting collectors' mailboxes now, a fourth wave of this officially licensed, non-transforming action figure line has been revealed. Leaving behind the fun choices in the first three waves which included characters from Action Masters, Pretenders, the Sunbow cartoon and IDW comics, this wave only consists of two G1 repaints and another G1 standard bearer. This decidedly G1 wave will bring collectors a regular version of Starscream, Soundwave and the corpse of Optimus Prime, officially called "Fallen Leader Optimus Prime" just as Super7's Reaction version of the dead Autobot leader is.

As with previous waves, these are "Made-to-Order" figures, but thankfully the pricing continues to hold steady at $55 per figure. Images of the three figures are below, and pre-orders are available now through Super7's website as well as via our site sponsors TFSource, BigBadToyStore, and The Chosen Prime.

while I absolutely love super 7 various ultimates lines, I'm not really a fan of these. I dig the action masters ones, but the g1 toon ones feel like their proportions are all out of whack. I know the sunbow toon had wildly differing proportions and scales from episode to episode, but still these just don't look right to me. Like the heads are too big, and the bodies too baloon-y. one less thing I have to spend my money on though so that's a plus.

I do have to agree that this isn't as "Wow" as the other waves, but I am not surprised they decided to do a bit of padding by giving us two expected redecos and that popular radio guy. I'd imagine people very much wanted a normal colour Starscream. I am a bit disappointed that neither Starscream nor Soundwave come with Action Master goodies, though.

They got me on the 3 3/4" ones but these I just had to pass on. I can't believe I'm saying this but RED does these better.

I'm torn about these Super7 Ultimates. They look nice. The packaging is way more premium than I want. They're about an inch or two too large. The accessories are nice. These worked really well for Action Masters Bombshell and Banzai-Tron, especially since they included their Action Master partners and even put the Action Masters logo on the back of the box (which I think is the first time that logo has been used officially in 30+ years). I'm less excited about Ultimates items such as Starscream with derpy face. I can't help but think that sales for the first wave didn't do well, so they course corrected to included more mainstream characters (plus troop builders) and are steering clear of deep-cuts like Action Master Bombshell.

Optimus is a rip off. Compare what you get from regular Prime to dead Prime for the same price all because the dead one's chest opens.

It's Optimus, he could come with his entire deathbed and still make money.

I wouldn't say it's a ripoff. They remolded the head and the torso. Who wants a surfboard and basketball with Dead Op? Maybe a tombstone with RIP OP, but I'm good with the molded head and torso.

It's not like he comes with two torsos, they just swapped one for another that just happens to have two extra parts on his chest. And no, obviously a surfboard would be silly, but maybe a cardboard and plastic deathbed or a crying Daniel figure, options are out there.

I got my first few of these in a couple days ago and they stink. Literally. It's like Burn's LG Whirl from years back, they smell awful.

Cutting my preorders down on these to just Grimlock, Tarn, Bludgeon and maybe Gator Prime. Neat toys, but not spectacular and the materials feel cheap as hell.

Those are the exact ones I ordered along with Banzai-Tron, I just want Pretenders, Action Masters, and the guys that have never been officially released before (plus a cartoon accurate Grimlock). I'd buy Optimus Prime if ToyHax comes out with an Action Master sticker set with modified guns from the Titans Return set. And if they made AM sticker sets for the other figures like Megatron, Soundwave, and Tracks then maybe I could be convinced to pick up Bombshell. I like the idea of AM redos, it's the type of thing we should be seeing in RED, especially after they've given us random things like an overly copper Cheetor and battle scuffed Bumblebee.

Shame the new wave is all standard G1 stuff. I liked the weird toss ins that we got so far, even if I wasn't going to buy many of these.

Hope they improve some of the materials before Tarn if scotty's review is anything to go by

Could have sworn they were already pushed back to Q4 2022 for wave 2 and Q1 2023 for wave 3 but I can't find any emails about it so maybe all the delays over the last couple years are running together...

For whatever reason, these have completely passed me by until recently. I don't understand why these and RED co-exist? Two lines of non-transforming Transformers??? To me, it's just this...

Mainly because super7 are giving hasbro money to do these and are different sizes then standard RED I believe, like IDW Tarn, the prime crocodile etc.
While RED is a walmart exclusive, so they give hasbro money. In hasbro's eyes, who cares as long as they get money.

It's weird to think the bottom of the [creative] barrel line of the original run has been revived two-fold, 30+ years later.

More weird to think that it's been lucrative enough to do several waves

That part is mind blowing. I'm sure if they are still with us, those involved in the original Action Master line appreciate the irony.

I was interested until I saw that these have LESS articulation than most of the RED figures. I was down to have something that's the same size as the Classified line.

On the other hand, the RED are very cheap looking.

Regardless, it's like comparing apple and oranges. Sure, both are fruits, both are round, yet they are completely different. RED are action figures while S7 are more like "posable" statues.
