Yeah, it all depends on what those he leaves behind want to do about Metroplex.

I'm guessing they haven't announced Warden's replacement yet then? Wonder what the interview criteria would be if there was multiple people in contention :-?

isn't that what the 2013 figure was for? I mean sure it's not accurate below the chest, but the game itself (or at least Metroplex's appearance in it) was supposed to be the hype for the new figure and the Titan line as a whole, right? So the "FoC route" would be a more stocky, G1 accurate Metroplex.

No, T30 Metroplex took voice cues and function from FOC, but was not remotely FOC as a toy, completely wrong aesthetic. I want thick, chunky, with the gray and black color scheme, the massive hands, the larger number of guns and missile launchers.

the T30 is nice, but it is not FOC to me

I doubt he was FOC to anyone, except Hasbro. I think they thought most fans would be happy they were getting a giant toy, never mind how accurate it actually was.

Accuracy begins and end with the hands. Those chests are completely different shapes and proportions.

Am I the only one who's not feeling the feels with the latest toy news? So the Ark is the next titan class figure... That's... nice... But we still don't get a titan class Volcanicus with Voyager-sized dinobots? "Well, hey! We're releasing a bunch of redundant figures for Studio Series 86, and some of the non-redundancies will be dinobots!!" Great. Along with another Kup that no one asked for and that looks awful... And Hasbro still has yet to do the Insecticons justice...

With the Kingdom releases, it looks like we can look forward to Tracks, which is good... I guess... Warpath looks... fine... but yet another Optimus? Hard pass. I can't really say much about the Beast Wars figures - they look good, but Beast Wars figures were never my thing (although I thought the show was great). Cyclonus looks quite good, but I'm not all that excited about him. I certainly don't feel the need to add him to my collection.

I caught the collecting bug a number of years ago when I was passing a toy section in a department store and I found Universe Hound with Ravage. I was blown away - I thought the engineering was great and the figure's aesthetic was really cool. I then picked up a Universe Starscream and stylized Trailcutter. When the Combiner Wars figures dropped, and I saw how Hasbro had updated the Aerialbots, I was hooked. But when POTP was sort of lacklustre (dinobots, no, terrorcons, yes) and seemed to fizzle out the Prime Wars Trilogy with a whimper, I started to get disenchanted. I thought War for Cybertron would be a great opportunity to give us stylized cybertronian versions of many our favourite G1 characters, and in my opinion, Hasbro blew the chance when this was suddenly dropped after only a handful of them in Siege to go back to the Earth forms in Earthrise.

I had faith that Takara might fill the void - the updated Seacons were great, I thought. But now they seem to have fallen into the repaint trap as well with a POTP Volcanicus tweak that no one seems excited about.

I dunno... Maybe this is all a good thing in the end... I can say I had a good run as an armchair collector for a few years and hang up my spurs. But part of me is a bit sad that it's all ending this way...

The only way a Titan Volcanicus would work is if Grimlock was completely redesigned. His horrendous torso mode ruins that combiner.

Please no more combining dinobots. They did it once, now that never needs to be done again. We saw how compromised the constructions were for Titan Devy, I have no room in my collection for another round of compromised place holder dinobots.

I agree with a lot of what you've said... In recent years I have passed on a whole lot of figures.
I'm almost positive the only POTP figures I bought were the Terrorcons. And I love the Dinobots as characters, but never bought one of them; they just were too lacking in scale imo.
I like the look of the Seacons, but not for those prices.

You may be at a point similar to me (which I've been at for a while now), where you are relatively picky, and will only buy figures that you REALLY like.
The positive in all of this is that figures are getting better and better, and so personally my collection is starting to become more and more finalized. An example is the ER seekers... I don't see myself ever buying another seeker, especially not a whole set.
It takes some patience, but in the end, you're happier with your collection, you've saved a lot of money, and you don't have a room (or boxes) full of figures you probably never really wanted to begin with.

I also agree with W.J.; I don't want any more Dinobots until they are done right.
For me that means larger scale, and no compromises due to a combining system.
They deserve to be impressive, stand-alone figures.
Sure, update them a little, but more importantly, I want them to have a very close resemblance to the G1 characters.
It's really almost insanely past-time for this to happen.

Exactly. I'm okay with the limbs, but Grimlock...ugh. Personally, I'd love to have them be scale accurate, which means a leader class Sludge (torso), voyager class Snarl and Grimlock (legs), and deluxe class Slag and Swoop (arms).

That almost seems like a set up for the whole "Meet the Robinson's" quote, "I have a big head and tiny arms."
Unless the the Slag and Swoop could really extend out to make a proportionate arm in relation to the rest of the figure, but with that you would still have the issue of kinda skinny arms. :-?

Yeah, I was keeping robot mode scale in mind with that. Slag and Swoop are a bit smaller than the others, but not by much. If they have to be voyager, so be it. And I never subscribed to the idea that a team leader has to be the torso. Yeah, with the traditional combiners it's that way, and they have official continuity setting that up. But as far as I know, the Dinobots don't, so Sludge could be the torso physically, with Grimlock still controlling the combined form.

Thank you, Soundwave76 - I think that gave me the perspective I needed. You're right - I probably AM pickier now which accounts for my reactions to the recent news, and will make me a better collector as a result. (In addition to allowing me to save some money!)

Yeah, I'm probably engaging in some very wishful thinking with regard to the whole Volcanicus deal... As a kid, I always felt the Dinobots were cheated out of being a force to match Predaking, which accounts for my wanting to see them as a Titan class combiner now, but, as many have pointed out here, that would mean way too many compromises on the individual figures. They need to be done right.

And perhaps I've been too harsh on some of the ER figures... The seekers are REALLY well done (Skywarp's face, though...) I also really like what Hasbro did with Reflector/Refraktor in the Siege line.

But please, Hasbro, give us some figures that have been missing for too long. The Insecticons are about as past due for proper figures as the Dinobots. And I think I speak for all when I say I don't need to see another Optimus Prime for a while...

Tracks is in the Kingdom poster. So we can assume he's coming at some point. Whether a new mold or a retooled Wheeljack remains to be seen.

No worries, I get it...
Yeah, it's a bit surprising to at least some of us that the Dinobots haven't been given a better update before now... Of any alt mode that would probably appeal to kids, right?
Between the two we're supposed to get from the SS86 line, and the fact that new BW figures are on the way seems to justify another round of Dinobots sooner than later. At least that seems logical to me.

ER has brought some great figures, so much so that I've gone against my normal collecting habit of Decepticons only, and now have a number of Autobots from this line. If the SS86 line wasn't on the horizon, I'd probably even have a few more (I'm constantly tempted by Wheeljack).
I'm thinking that the next time Hastak releases a lot of these G1 characters, that there will be some gimmick that compromises... Something in terms of the appearances.
But I think we're reaching that time where they're probably justified in doing something that brings some variety to the table.

I would like to see some new Insecticons that aren't quite as small as Scout/Legends class...
If Cliffjumper is a "deluxe", I don't see why the bugs can't get the same treatment.
Or heck, do it up and put them in a 3 pack... If they're smaller like Cliffjumper, price it at $50 and I think there would be a lot of interest. While I'm not a huge fan of exclusives, when they provide figures that maybe wouldn't happen otherwise, I'd be okay with that option to get these characters.

Let's just hope these new Leader class Dinobots aren't a letdown... I have hope they'll be awesome.

In some ways yes. I still think it would have been better to keep the 3rd portion of this trilogy to finish out many original series characters that have yet to receive modern updates, then dedicate a whole Trilogy for BW. Mixing them both gives fewer toys to both eras and satisfies nobody IMHO.

Still I'll be saving a lot of money by purchasing fewer items, so I guess that is good. I currently have no plans to purchase any BW toys. They look great, don't get me wrong, just not my thing. If however my son were to show a vested interest, I'd definitely get some for him, but he will be 15 when this line starts to show up in stores. I sense an overall fading interest in Transformers from him, but I guess we will see.
