Via Transformers@theMoon, the UK based site, we have some interesting, rumour-mongering tidbits of news which we leave to you all to decide the implications of. It appears that Hasbro have registered the trademarks for CybertronCon, currently the name of their big Transformers Asian convention - could this mean a name change for BotCon? Something more radical? Nothing at all? Let the speculations run wild in the Energon Pub!

I wouldn't worry too much about this affecting BotCon. It's probably just Trademark protection business as usual, making it so Hasbro continues to hold on to the name.

They haven't had a "CybertronCon" in 2 years now. Am I missing something..?

I'm definitely excited if Hasbro hosts BotCon themeselves rather than have Fun Publications run it

After the CybertronCon trademark registration on Hasbro's behalf a while ago, we have the full confirmation from its official site! The event - supported and organised via ReedPop - will take place in China on 29-31 July 2016, and tickets are already available to purchase here. It looks like the event will also include a fan art competition, exhibitors, entertainment and creator guests from the Transformers family, all in the ShanghaiMart Expo area! More details will be announced soon, so keep keep your optics tuned to Seibertron.com.

Guess it's not the successor to BotCon, then.

Some more news regarding the Chinese event from Hasbro - CybertronCon - sees the addition of the initial guestlist, ranging from voices to comics to toys: the iconic Peter Cullen (!), artists Alex Milne, James Raiz and Sara Pitre Durocher, and Takara Tomy designers Shogo Hasui and Hisashi Yuki!
