Tonka trucks were pretty big. Compared to Titans, these would be more like Hot Wheels.

Deluxes would scale better. ;)

Aren't the new Tonka trucks these days made put of plastic? When I was a kid, they were nearly all sturdy metal and I used to use the dump-truck as an impromptu go-kart down small hills/inclines.

Tonkacons. That's what they need to be called. :)

...I don't get it. I never knew or was interested in Tonka trucks. It's just a lazy repaint of the original, limited 80's molds. It has the very same ideas behind it I hated in J. Balvintron.

Why do I like this concept more than J. Balvintron?!

How old are you?

When I was kid, Tonka trucks were indeed made out of pure METAL and were awesome to handle. But that was in the late 1970's and the 1980's. But did they still made metal Tonka trucks in the 1990's? Because I have the impression that it's been decades since Tonka trucks went full plastics.

I tried searching but even Google didn't help at telling when the change was made. Maybe when Hasbro bought Tonka in 1996? :-?

O'm a 90s kid, and Tonka trucks were not a part of my childhood, probably less popular by then

While I've been down for most Crossovers, Tonkatron leaves me feeling cold. Maybe if I had Tonka trucks as a kid. Maybe if they just picked a more current TF construction vehicle mold. I don't think I'd be down for paying $300 for a titan class Tonkanator, but G1 Devvy ... maybe at a deep discount.

If I had more disposable income the Street Fighter Crossover would be much more tempting. I hate skin-tones on TFs, but still. I'd have got it. I'll keep my eye on it in case it goes down in price.

Overall, the Spedia 500 collection looks really cool. The only one I probably won't get is Blur. It is nice to finally get Clampdown after having Deepcover for a while. A new Cosmos is also a plus.

Since this was sold out on hasbro pulse in only a few hours, id say the comments listed below are in the minority about pricing. I just bought 2 on target.com so if they look like crap ill return them. What I dont seem to get is $104.00 for 6 constructicons $17.33 each so that's a lot of money? It's on target for Super 7's figures which are around $18.00 each. So these are cheaper. Also, when you look at the detail on figures, I'm actually pretty impressed. I know I'm in the minority here but I actually like this set and I'm looking forward to this at the end of the year. I love anything G1 as long as it's done right! :SG-BOTS: :SG-CONS: :HASBRO:

We don't know how many were sold at Pulse, so your claims about the comments being "in the minority" can't be considered accurate. There could equally have been more people than usual that didn't bother with these toys, but the sales figures can only show who bought them, not how many didn't.

And yes, the price IS a "lot of money", for what are small, simple figures that have been released several times over and have curreny been released with basically a few "Tonka" and Autobot stickers on them. It's not rocket science, kid.

Think I'd have preferred a CW repaint or evn if Hasbro KO'd the undersized KO rather than the G1 figures

Same, but Hasbro doesn't like copying KOs.

I still wish the street fighter figures were released individually. I really only want Arcee, and do not want to pay $75 for her and Hot Rod

Tonkanator is shipping out from both In Demand toys. We thank xrotorstormx for letting us know that it's also shipping out from Target. Some have already received it, like Botnaza who posted some in hand images here. Below you'll see how it looks like in package, individual modes, combined mode and combined mode stickered up.

Should have been Tonkastator.

If it had been the Titan class version, I would have bought it.

Funny how the Constructicons in realistic yellow look like the Constructicons in realistic yellow, whether legit or not :P  Plastic's probably on the harder side compared to the KOs, tho. The lighting is also probably affecting how the yellow looks.

Motormix's drum should have been cast in a different color, though. The mold is set up for it (just look at Diaclone), and it looks better than the monochrome appearance given by casting it in the same color.
It's also unfortunate that they seem to repeat the abusive assembly practices seen on the Vintage G1 'structies.

Everybody saying "I'da bought if it was the Titan version"... Would you really have gone for a novelty like this at $189?
That could well have been a dealbreaker on selling it to kids, who this is mainly aimed at. And aside from the price, doing it with the Titan-class version would have meant stores having to stock TWO Titans.

I'll reiterate that it's a shame the Diaclone plastic sandpit and cardboard girders weren't resurrected for this, they would have gone with it very well.

EDIT: CHEAP JAB REMOVED.

Not this. This is a novelty release with some reasonable thought behind it, and it sets the Constructicon molds up to be better enjoyed as transforming construction vehicle toys.

I would say the Legacy Elita mold is far more deserving, especially in its Minerva guise.

Wow, I have been really looking forward to this release and ordered it from target.com. It should arrive any day now but after looking at these pics they look so cheap. They do not look like the pics on target.com at all! My AFA graded G1 Constructicons look great compared to these cheap looking things. How sad. Maybe it will look better in person? I think I have given up on Hasbro to do anything good for G1. :CON: :BOT: :KREMZEEK: :HASBRO: :TAKARATOMY:
