[The Trion - Bridge - Mars Atmosphere]

Blaster heard his buddy Eject loud and clear. “Yeah, looks like the ship’s gone off. Seems like a transwarp drive activation to me. Sorry guys, looks like the ‘cons chickened out before we got there.”

Sludge groaned in his seat at Slag and Snarl's outcries. “Ugh, see? Me Sludge knew cons were wastering time. Hmph.”

Blaster’s fingers strid across his panels. “Looks like Ironhide’s signal is still on the Martian surface. I’m going to guess that they weren’t taken prisoner. Let’s pick them up anyway since we’ve come this far. Grimlock, your call for landing?”

>>”Ironhide, we’re going to be arriving on the surface soon. Can you get ready to carry the mech who’s in stasis? We won’t be here for that long.”<<

The Trion – Bridge

Grimlock was more than a little ticked off. There had been Decepticons on Sol-4, briefly, but now they were gone. Not only did the Dinobots not have a chance to personally dish out their own brand of violence on them, but they didn’t even get a chance to take a shot at their fleeing vessel. To say this was disappointing to the Dinobot leader and his brood would be a massive understatement.

“How this happen?! How they get away!?!” Grimlock bellowed, echoing Slag’s own query. Grim’s actuators balled into tighter fists than they already had been. He wanted action. He wanted to crush ‘Cons and decimate their ship and now that had all been denied him. But, the rex-former kept his cool, such as it was. The Decepticons might be gone, but they still had a job to do. There were puny Autobots still down on the surface, some even injured, and they needed to be rescued. At least they could accomplish that much on this otherwise useless mission.

Blaster wrote:“Yeah, looks like the ship’s gone off. Seems like a transwarp drive activation to me. Sorry guys, looks like the ‘cons chickened out before we got there.”

“Looks like Ironhide’s signal is still on the Martian surface. I’m going to guess that they weren’t taken prisoner. Let’s pick them up anyway since we’ve come this far. Grimlock, your call for landing?”

“Whatever! Lock on to Autobot signals and bounce them aboard NOW! No need to land. Battleship too big. Just keep us in orbit!” Grimlock was still shouting, mostly out of frustration. He sat back down in the command chair and opened a comm line down to the bounce chamber:

>>”Hot Spot, we have incoming wounded. Should arrive in bounce chamber shortly. Be ready to give aid!”<<

Cutting his comm line, Grimlock let out a loud, guttural groan as he continued to seethe with anger.

Starfire had stopped, noticing that they weren't being chased by the Cons. This allowed Ironhide to catch up to her.

"So now what?" she asked.

"Ya heard the transmission." he answered. "There's an Autobot ship on the way. We'll be outta here soon."

"Okay." she said. "Do we go get Pipes?"

"First let's see who's comin' to get us. Then..."

The incoming message cut off Ironhide, and they both listened.

"That settles it." he said after the message was finished. "Go get him. Now."

"Right." she said, and transformed.

She took off towards the other half of the crashed shuttle, which was on the other side of the nearest mountain. While she was gone, Ironhide once again activated his comm link.

"This is Ironhide. We'll be ready shortly." he said. "Who am I talkin' to? And who is in command of yer ship?"

---

As Starfire arrived at the other wreck, she transformed and looked around. Nothing. It was eerily quiet, with some sand and dust slowly getting moved around on the surface. She immediately began uncovering Pipes' unconscious and broken body. His severed arm was secured to his body. Once they got in Autobot hands, some skilled medics shouldn't have any problems reattaching it. As she picked up the smaller bot, she had no idea that she wasn't alone. The stowaway on the shuttle was still nearby.

Grimlock wrote:“Whatever! Lock on to Autobot signals and bounce them aboard NOW! No need to land. Battleship too big. Just keep us in orbit!”

“Gotcha.” Blaster’s typical grin had by now completely disappeared off of his face. Best not to take any chances with Grimlock when he was burning up. He dialled onto the coordinates of the Autobot signals, when he received a comm back.

Ironhide wrote:"This is Ironhide. We'll be ready shortly. Who am I talkin' to? And who is in command of yer ship?"

>>“This is Communications Officer Blaster, Ironhide. Grimlock is the captain of the battleship Trion. We’ll be bouncing you up directly in a bit.”<<

He tapped through the settings for the bounce. >>“Initiating orbital bounce sequence in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…”<<

A bright flash of light descended from the ship onto the Martian surface.

Trion – Bridge

Slag wrote:"WHAT?!" Slag barked, his optics enraged. "How signal disappear? How you lose it!?"

Eject let out a small eep and debated transforming into iPod mode in an effort to slip into a crease in the seat. Having one of the Dinobots — it didn’t matter which one — that pissed wasn’t something to be treasured, especially when he was the one to draw their ire.

Still, they’d have to catch him if they wanted to tear him apart. It didn’t matter if all of them were present, they’d destroy their ship before catching him. Neither option was very pleasant.

Had to ask to be in the game, couldn’t just focus on my sideline duties. He shook his head. Who was he kidding? He wouldn’t have missed this for the world.

Blaster wrote:“Yeah, looks like the ship’s gone off. Seems like a transwarp drive activation to me. Sorry guys, looks like the ‘cons chickened out before we got there.”

He gave Blaster a thankful nod when he took charge in informing Grimlock and his Monsters of the Spaceway and turned his attention back to the communications console. His job on this mission was effectively over, barring any surprise attacks, but even the Decepticons weren’t that crazy, were they?

Groaning as a ping sounded in his comm unit signaling the beginning of a rugby match, he made sure he was recording it for later and refocused on searching for any stray signals. “Not going to get me with a trick play again, oh no. The playbook’s open, baby. Visiting team for the win,” he said as Blaster activated the bounce beam. "New recruits on the way."

“Yeah, looks like the ship’s gone off. Seems like a transwarp drive activation to me. Sorry guys, looks like the ‘cons chickened out before we got there.”

Slag's rageful look switched from Eject or Rewind, whichever one it was, to their boss--Blaster. He hated that answer, mostly because it made sense.

The Dinobot flamethrower seethed, plunking himself back down in his chair and stewing quietly.

For the moment.

"Starfire!" Ironhide yelled into his communicator. "Did ya get 'im? We'll be bounced up at any moment!"

Not far away, the fembot was on her way back to Ironhide. Pipes was over her shoulders and she was running as fast as she could. She wasn't worried about not getting bounced up, it was more of a feeling of being watched by something. Someone.

As Ironhide awaited their rescue, he couldn't help but think about his rescuers. Why were the Dinobots in the Sol system?

Autobot Battleship Trion - Bridge - Tactical Station

The grumbling from his fellow Dinobots stirred up Snarl’s own anger that he had somehow managed to control after having his chance to attack the Decepticons taken away.

He itched to press the firing mechanism, even if it was at the Autobots on the surface. Someone need pay for fleeing Decepticons.

Slamming his fist on the firing console, somehow managing not to punch the firing mechanism anyway, and turned in his chair to face the Autobot Blaster and the flea bot he brought with and changed his mind. They had no use.

“Communications supposed to find enemy for dynamiting. Now nothing to dynamite, Leader Grimlock. We leave the shuttles on planet or dynamite them? Then find Decepticons?”

For once, he thought Grimlock would be thinking like him.

The Trion - Bounce Chamber

As the three Autobots bounced onto the Trion, Groove immediately rushed to go help Pipes, who was unconscious. He turned his head to Ironhide to ask him a question. “How, and when?” He helped escort the out-cold mech towards the medbay, to hopefully get him on proper life support.

Bounce chamber

Hot Spot was glad there was no fighting and this was a simple rescue mission. He knew Grimlock will be quite the opposite. He was also glad Groove grabbed the stasis Pipes and headed to the medbay. Ironhide's other companion didn't look familiar to Hot Spot but mattered little to the Protectobot commander.

"Ironhide, if you and your other companion follow us to the medbay to be checked out. Any debriefing can wait until Grimlock gets to the medbay or we return to the fleet."

Hot Spot stepped aside to let the arrivals go first and as he done so noticed the disappointment on Blades face. His fellow Protectobot wasn't as battle lost as the Dinobots but still enjoyed a good brawl. Before exiting the chamber, Hot Spot walked over to the console to talk to Grimlock.

"Bridge, we have more three Autobots on board. One is in stasis and the other two don't look to banged up. If you choose, Grimlock, we can debrief them in medbay or we can wait til we reach the fleet.

"Ugh, I never liked doin' that." Ironhide said as he shook his head after the bounce.

Starfire carefully handed the smaller Autobot over to Groove.

"It was a cycle ago in a firefight." she answered. "He was the target of a barrage by an entire squad of seekers." She then gestured at Pipes' severed left arm. "His shoulder took a direct hit and blew his arm right off. I didn't know what to do. Hopefully it can be reattached. His stasis is the result of a system overload. You can see his whole chest and upper body took a lot of damage. I hope he comes through it alright."

Ironhide started walking behind Hotspot and gestured to Starfire to follow them.

"Yeah, I would like a debriefin'." he said to Hotspot. "And my first question is, what are ya doin' here in this system? Second question is, why the Dinobots? Grimlock hates Earth, I know he wants to be as far from it as possible. There any new developments in leadership in the last few cycles I ain't aware of?"

[Trion - Bridge]

Blaster figured that their job here was done. He looked over to Grimlock. “Alright, captain, shall we head back?” He skimmed through the controls, resetting the target coordinates back to Sol-3’s orbit. “We should probably go back now that this is over.”

Sludge grunted and nodded at the communications officer. “Oof, yes, drive ship back to mudball. Rustball make optics tired.”

The Trion--Bridge

The fact that they had not been able to find any Decepticons to smash...especially when they had obviously just been here...was sticking in Slag's craw something fierce.

"Go back. Dump off extra baggage. Then go hunt 'Cons. That's what me say. We have this ship too long. Weapons not fired once."

The Trion – Bridge

Snarl wrote:“Communications supposed to find enemy for dynamiting. Now nothing to dynamite, Leader Grimlock. We leave the shuttles on planet or dynamite them? Then find Decepticons?”

Grimlock’s energon was still boiling beneath his thick armored plating as the Desert Warrior spoke up. “Dynamite what, Snarl? Shuttle already crashed and destroyed. Just leave it,” the Dinobot Commander growled as his digits dug into the arm rests of his chair. “As far as find Decepticons, Obliteration head back to Sol-3, so that we do, too.”

Hot Spot wrote:"Bridge, we have more three Autobots on board. One is in stasis and the other two don't look to banged up. If you choose, Grimlock, we can debrief them in medbay or we can wait til we reach the fleet.”

The Protectobot Commander’s communique from the bounce chamber then came across Grimlock’s comm line. It confirmed that Ironhide and the other puny Autobots were now safely onboard. The rex-former opened a return comm line back:

>>”Good, Hot Spot. Debrief them now if you want. But they likely be debriefed again by Prowl and Magnus when we get back.”<<

Grimlock cut his comm line, letting out a deep, guttural sigh. Even though they had successfully rescued the Autobots in question, the mission had been completely without action or Decepticon destruction. Both of those things Grimlock and his Dinobots had been hoping for and both had been denied them. Never a good thing especially when the Dinobots had gone without seeing real battle for so long.

Blaster wrote:“We should probably go back now that this is over.”

Sludge wrote:“Oof, yes, drive ship back to mudball. Rustball make optics tired.”

Slag wrote:"Go back. Dump off extra baggage. Then go hunt 'Cons. That's what me say. We have this ship too long. Weapons not fired once.”

Members of his team had spoken and Grimlock listened. Yes, it was time to go back, time to leave this rustball of a planet behind them. “Swoop, take us out of orbit and back to Sol-3. Blaster…” the Dinobot leader turned his glare over to the communications expert. “…me want you to keep scanners searching for ‘Con frigate. They likely use similar path back to mudball. We might be able to find and catch them.”

And with Grimlock’s orders given, the Trion left Mars orbit and headed back towards Earth.

((OOC: Postings for Dinobots and their group can move back to Trion thread. Mars thread is now closed.))
