Desperately Seeking Sixshot

I didn't want to buy him.

Part-time taxi driver

After all, I still had G1 6S, and loved him -- every transformation, detail and the concept of a 6-changer was cool when he first appeared back in 1987.
IMG_5037.JPG
Form 1

His joints were so stiff it took some real man-handling to see all of his different forms, advertised or hidden.
IMG_5027.JPG
Hunters

That's pretty much the opposite for TR 6S. His legs are easily bended, posed, and he's also now a Headmaster. He still looks as imposing as ever, though, and I'm happy to finally have an updated version.

Combiner Hunter Trio

It also prompted me to open up the Combiner Hunters boxset (SDCC 2015), thinking he could be a worthy adversary....the femme bots look excellent, imho, but they were less cooperative due to weight of their giant weapons!

Hi Will, welcome!!

Thanks!

I didn't specify the particular class or era because I'm always looking for the version that gets the closest to my ideal image of each character.

If I were to choose a current incarnation, though....!

Shockwave - I'd have to go with the MP or FansToys Quakewave; both are great for different reasons, but between them I'd go MP.
IMG_5002.JPG

The MP is fine, its straight up g1 to the max though. if thats your thing then you cant go wrong. I went MP because I realized it would be around the same price as a G1 rerelease would go for if they ever found a way to do that. Plus you get modern engineering and articulation. Although Quakewave might be cheaper, so that could be a good route for you. There are many decent versions of that character out there. I would even say the DOTM and Prime version are great too even if they look less G1

Unicron - I'd settle for the Platinum re-release, but think I prefer either the Fewture EX Gokin PLUS Unicron Head or DAT LAMP. If there was eventually a Titan Class Unicron, that'd be ideal!
IMG_5001.JPG
IMG_4999.JPG

Haha, that lamp! You could also wait for Hasbro to make a new one, they will run out of giant characters to do.

Rodimus Prime - at this time, I'd go with DX9's Carry....unless HasTak wants to do a new MP. I could also be happy with MMC's Calidus!

Yeah that one's tough. What I did is simply have the MP hotrodimus as a classics rodimus since it scales perfectly for a season 3 team, especially with gen arcee, magnus, blurr and Kup. And technically, if you insert Prime's matrix into that MP toy, then fiction wise he becomes rodimus, right? right? ;)

Cyclonus - I always wanted that Transformers Universe Deluxe version, or the G1 original. I also like the look of Xtransbots Eligos, but not that price tag.
IMG_5003.JPG

That deluxe is a good toy, the newest triggerhappy takes a lot of cues from him. But might I suggest the Combiner Wars one? He looks really good and it is by far the best representation of the vehicle mode. He also scales well with TR Galvatron

Overlord - DAT G1 and MMC's Carnifex are tied for The One I want! But I may settle for the TR version simply due to price.
IMG_5004.JPG

Same for me. Thats a toy I always wanted but I knew the G1 would be out of reach. TR will have to do. I aint closing those chest flaps though ;)

Dezarus - G1 would be awesome, but I'm very curious what HasTak may have coming up!
IMG_5005.JPG

Me too. The rumours have him as the leader for the final wave of Titans Return.

Scorponok - G1 original....but I'd love a Titan-class version!
IMG_5006.JPG

I have the G1. Missing many accessories, but he has the head. Of all the G1 toys, its the one that holds up the best due to having lots of articulation waist up. The Titan should be fun too, and I cant wait for that base mode. Scorponok's base mode was one of the strongest of the G1 era.

Who's on your Most Wanted List?

Ok so I had a list but luckily I was able to get a lot of what I wanted. Sure, there are some G1s that are out of reach but the way Hasbro is doing things these days, I am getting all the ones I wanted in the form of updates which stay very close to G1 so I dont really need the g1 toys anymore. Like overlord, PM Prime, the combiners, shockwave and so forth.

This was my latest list:

Leo Prime
HFTD Deluxe Lockdown
Beast Machines Night Viper
Beast Machines Battle Unicorn
Cybertron Crosswise
Cybertron Brimstone
Animated Sentinel Prime
Animated Swindle
Animated Wreck Garr
AIrrapto/Archadis
Mach Kick
Arms Micron Breakdown

Of those, I got most of them in the past year. I did get the silas breakdown redeco of breakdown so that's fine, and I am getting lgends Leo Prime so I dont know if I still need the original (I wouldnt mind him at a good price). I still dont have mach kick but dont want to buy the boxset he comes in since I have his companion already and the only one left on that list then would be Battle Unicorn. Believe it or not Battle Unicorn is my most wanted figure in terms of backtracking.

Honestly, Will, MP Rodimus looks pretty cool - imho, he certainly looks like s3 TF Roddy, but his current price is a little steep for me to hunt him down....whereas Calidus is certainly cheaper and is Rodimus from MTMTE!

I don't know why I didn't pick up CW Cyclonus, besides being tired of the retools -- he does look pretty good! And he'd be a great option for the price.

I'm totally going with open-chested Overlord if I get the TR version! I wonder which TMs would look best...

Scorponok, Metroplex and Fort Max were once the ultimate TFs I missed out on....I have Dark Scorponok (not even close lol) and TR Fort Max (fun), but to have missed Metroplex again! ;_;

I'm totally with you on HasTak's recent releases - like TR Hot Rod! He was my first Hot Rod, believe it or not!

Wow, Battle Unicorn though - how rare was he? Definitely unique and cool-looking! I would love to see more beastformers, without a doubt.

Excellent questions! One of them would be Brainstorm's for sure, as for the other, I am thinking maybe Skullsmasher's.

Well you not experiencing Gen metroplex means your experience with Fort Max was the first time with the mold, so you go to enjoy it and discover it to the max.

I'm totally with you on HasTak's recent releases - like TR Hot Rod! He was my first Hot Rod, believe it or not!

I got my first Hot Rod within the past year as well. I found the classics in a thrift shop and got the MP less than a year ago. And now with TR, I got 3 hotrods within one year's time.

Wow, Battle Unicorn though - how rare was he? Definitely unique and cool-looking! I would love to see more beastformers, without a doubt.
IMG_5038.GIF

Yes he is rare, in a way. He was released at the tail end of the line so shops didnt stock him. So BBTS bought every copy from Hasbro to sell it on their site. So even though there was a lot of him, he ended up being in the hands of collectors mostly, so the aftermarket isnt kind to him. In Canada, he was only ever found at a grocery store, so tough luck to me.

Long story short, not necessarily rare, but expensive and no way of finding it from a non collector.

Playin around with TR Sixshot and his G1 incarnation, I thought TM Skytread's ability to create a clone decoy would serve Sixshot very well. :CON:

Missing out on Generations Metroplex, it looks to me like all the care was taken to make sure his alt modes were well done -- better than the default alts for Fort Max, any way.

But you're right, Will - having FM be a fresh experience (not only for the mold, but to finally own a version of the character!) was pretty nice. :)

I like the look of MP Hot Rod, too - he looks the closest to his 1986 movie coloring. ;)^

I do like the looks of the other Shockwaves some of our other members have shared, like Sigma! But I need that G1 representation as my go-to, simply due to nostalgia.

Death Metal Batman was a great Lego Batman grab bag score, srsly - he's frakkin awesome lol

I just wanted to incorporate him somehow, for anyone who might notice ;)

That photo shoot was s'posed to be allzabout Sixshot....but they totally stole the show! That's my 3rd Arcee (also got Generations & LG), but she looks scary-cool with the back-in-black look. Those are my first and currently only incarnations of Windblade & Chromia!

I say first, cuz I might get TR Windblade for DAT FACE. :x

I walked into a specialty toy store today hoping for a deal....what I came out with instead was an overpriced G1 Swerve.
IMG_5075.JPG
I wish for a drink about now...

He's got nothing on his Generations incarnation, but the nostalgia factor is there - the owner of the store didn't even recall Sweve's name and was confused as to why I cared....so I rambled on about IDW, MTMTE and TFs until he clearly lost interest and got back to social media (2 minutes).

Great choice for lock-screen Cary! :BOT:

To be honest, I have had the Decepticon symbol for mine on more than one occasion....! Right now, it's not but my background is Fort Max. ;)

I paid $10, and he was not even close to mint condition, Will. Under normal circumstances, I might've scoffed and kept walkin, but I wanted sumthin! I guess anything would've sufficed lol

He also had Action Masters (at about 20-25 a pop!), Pretenders ($65! But no Bludgeon or Octopunch, fortunately)....a mint condition G1Megatron for $400+ (!!), and other G1 bots. It made me wonder how much he paid for them originally....

65$ for a bludgeon or octopunch wouldnt be that bad. But yeah the rest of those prices are quite high. For G1 megs, you are beter off getting the reissues, they are easy to come by, and much cheaper.

I was never good at pin ball.

My gaming forte was SHMUPs, side-scrollin' beat-em-ups, then all-things RPG from East to West. But then I saw PinBot back in 1986 and thought it was the best thing ever...until 1991 brought us the Bride of PinBot.
IMG_5201.JPG
She's got the Touch...?

That got me thinking - all those times Arcee, Optimus, Hot Rod or any Transformer picked up a human, what did their hands feel like? Did it vary by the gender their spark identified with, or their alt mode?
IMG_5208.JPG
...that's not how any of this works.

IMG_5205.JPG
Or is it like being crushed inside a tin can?

I'm hoping for a mix between velvet and soft, worn leather -- for Daniel's sake. ;)

But yeah female bots are nothing new - even if it took until 1997 for the first female TF to arrive, Airazor. Arcee's 1986 G1 incarnation didn't see an official release until 2014!

But since her arrival as part of Generations, she's been released for the Takara Legends line and as a Combiner Hunter. Here's the trio with two additions, Lifeline and Comera.

I never see Pinbot pinball machines anymore. If I was to ever get a pinball machine, Pinbot would be the one. Never played bride of, paint me intrigued :-?

I'm going go with hard, cold and pointy (assuming TFs are cold). I think the "gender" differences in TF land start and end with pronouns.

That Hunters Arcee looks really cool, such a badass deco. Wait wut? There is a TM Arcee in the works, man I really do live under a rock.

I would have liked to have seen some "Prime" concept ar of all the Prime candidates. I'm curious to see if we get a new toy based off Primal or just the MP.

Hey Cary - TM Arcee is running through the rumor mill still, but I fully expect to see her.

That said, preliminary designs would have been cool - I wonder how they might have swayed the voting, if at all. It probably would have sucked to have seen the designs if there was then no chance we'd ever see the losers.

Then again, perhaps 3rd parties would have stepped in = not cool for HasTak.

I absolutely would've bought Octopunch or Bludgeon for $65 a pop, Will! That's why I was kinda relieved he didn't have 'em.

I remember the day my dad brought home G1 Megatron - he didn't even bat an eye at the Walther I held in my hand! And he was glorious....

My best friend came over, and two hours later, Megatron was snapped in half -- my buddy had messed up the transformation. He admitted he broke it when I asked and that was that. My dad super-glued Megz to be a perma-Con, but eventually he broke again and was lost to time.

I actually picked up the Transformers G1 Encore Reissue #6: Megatron, when it was first released for MSRP -- there was this sweet import toy store that had all sortsa goodness then....I have never opened him up, but admire him every once in awhile. Almost as much as Tarn in dis pic I had taken previously. ;)
