Profile: A true old school warrior, Ironhide has an undying sense of duty, and unyielding loyalty to not only Optimus Prime, but his fellow Autobots as well. Though he's older than all the other Earth-bound Autobots, even Optimus, he considers himself their equal, and has no sense of superiority due to his experience, nor inferiority due to their more advanced programming. To put it bluntly, the newer generation is more tech-savvy, likes more advanced weaponry, and Ironhide sometimes has a hard time keeping up. However, when it comes to down and dirty guerrilla fighting, especially hand-to-hand combat, Ironhide believes no "turbo-revving young punk" will ever best him on the battlefield. He tries to integrate himself with the ranks of the younger warriors, as he's not above learning, but he prefers the old tricks he has learned through thousands of years of fighting the Decepticons. His fierce sense of duty gives him the inner fire with which he confronts the battles of each day, whether they be a beatdown of some unfortunate (though deserving) Decepticon, or a match of wits with some upstart shiny-plated punk who hasn't earned his battle scars yet. He considers Optimus his closest friend and will lay down his life to protect the Autobot leader in a nanoklik. Not that he wouldn't do that for any other brave Autobot fighting alongside him.

Abilities: Ironhide possesses great physical strength and above-average intelligence. His super-dense trithyllium-steel skin is lined with radiation dampers, making him nearly invulnerable to physical and radiation-based attacks. Although his whole body is armored, the special plating is most dense on his chest and back for protection, and his fists to maximize his hand-to-hand combat damage. He carries a rifle that can shoot his choice of liquid chemical up to a 1000 feet. He carries cartridges with a number of options, including super-heated liquid metal, a self-igniting petrochemical spray, and liquid nitrogen, among others. He also knows a dozen hand-to-hand combat styles, acquired through countless battles with Decepticons and other creatures across the galaxy. In vehicle mode, even though he's not fast, due to his special plating he can ram through almost any obstacle in his way, whether breaking it or simply pushing it out of the way.

Weaknesses: His great assets of thick skin and fierce courage also contribute to his weaknesses, as he is slow due to being so heavy, and his stubbornness to not back down from any fight sometimes causes him to find himself overwhelmed. He's not above taking on entire groups of Decepticons, but he has yet to win any of those fights, and despite his vast experience, unfortunately he has yet to learn from them either. Sometimes he has problems relating to the younger warriors around him, and this leaves him vulnerable on the battlefield. Not that his fellow Autobots wouldn't watch his back, but most of them don't like being around him due to his crotchety attitude. Also, having been around for a long time, and in a lot of battles, he has a lot of replacement parts inside him. And although Ratchet and First Aid are top notch medics, sometimes the parts just don't work as well as the originals, leaving Ironhide prone to handicaps such as tightened joints limiting mobility or overheated components during highly active battles. Rarely, he suffers complete system breakdowns, forcing him to have to be carried off the battlefield amid a mountain of shame and embarrassment. Also, due to his fierce sense of duty to protect Optimus and the others, as well as trying to be a shining example to the younger Autobots of what a warrior should be, he sometimes unnecessarily puts himself in dangerous situations.
