Okay, I've got a conundrum on my hands

https://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwa ... r_id=98297 - This is my guy Mixmaster. Today, I saw he had over 800k XP sitting around and so I added 4 Courage and 2 Rank. According to the XP Calc, those 6 points are exactly enough to bump him from level 4 to level 5 (36 -> 41)

HOWEVER, according to this battle (from last night before I went to sleep) -
https://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwa ... _id=338540

I was ALREADY Level 5 before today's upgrades. I'm really confused (FYI, 10 Ram 0 Repair are my tactics and have been for a long time) and I'd like to hear any thoughts or explanation for how this might have happened :HEADHURTS: :HEADHURTS: :HEADHURTS:

Levels are xp capped, now.

I believe 4.5 million xp is the cap for level 4. If you have more than that, you're level 5, even with no upgrades.

Keep in mind too, you can easily make a bot 1 or 2 levels higher than the minimum cap for any level above 0. Leveling up ahead of the cap gives you a better chance at higher pay outs by fighting higher competition.

Hello all,

I just re-discovered HMW and am wondering if there is a method for viewing the game code as a readonly?

I've been learning different programming languages and am fascinated as to how the game actually works.

TIA

No.
Ryan doesn't share knowledge like that because... "Reasons"

The best you can do is piece together old info from various old timers (Hello) then hypothesize & test to seem if you can come up with a formula that correctly predicts the results you see.

If you scroll down the forum you'll see a "Bun-Bun's Lab" &/or TAG thread where you can see what some of us have put together in the "before time"

Just throwing this out there. I know Courage was nerfed a while back. Granted this is mostly anecdotal, but I've definitely noticed higher XP returns on my bots with Courage 6 or higher, versus bots with less than 6 Courage.

This may be a little bit of confirmation bias at work. Those high courage characters also are likely to have maxed tactics and a high feeder stat. Tactics are providing the lions share of your xp gains. Combined with Burns recent efforts to modernize the mission xp bonuses and you will see much larger gains. You won't notice too much difference in attack frequency between a zero courage character and a 10 courage character, unless there is a huge level gap.

I did want to test this myself, as the bots I compared initially had the same tactic leveled similarly. I reset my second highest level bot to have 0 Courage and did not really notice any difference. I think the disparity in the ones I originally compared came from a difference in speed as well as the luck of match-ups.

What does everyone think of the presumably new weapon, Dysentery? I noticed that it says no Recharge in the description, but per this attached battle report (Scattershot is using it) it appears to have a recharge.

"No Recharge" is misleading.
That range covers weapons with 0 or 6 second recharges.
According to Burn: Dysentery is just a re-skin of Acid Rainmaker

I saw earlier in this thread about the individual stats that increase the effectiveness of tactics, but does one's rank in a tactic effect the damage done, or just the frequency?

Points in tactics tend to just increase the frequency of use (minor exception for strafe as more points in it allow for more shots possible)
The tactics "feeder stat" increases its strength/effectiveness:
STR for Ram/Bite
FRP for Strafe
SPD for Avoid
INT for Repair

Out of curiosity, you guys wouldn't happen to know if/when the alt mode rotations will be back to normal?

As much as I hate to say it, and as much as it's probably not the answer you want to hear...never. The Decepticon rotator doesn't rotate in rares, and I've heard the Autobot rotator doesn't do anything. The game doesn't have a programmer, so emergency fixes to catastrophic things is probably the best we can hope for. Burn has limited abilities when it comes to actually controlling the game. He has a very small toolbox to work with. He does well with what he has, but, unfortunately, none of the tools in his box can fix the rotator.

The Rare's are rotating, but everything else... not so much.
If there's an alt you're really after, you might want to leave a note in Here

Ahh, so the bots have the opposite problem from the cons. I'll admit I'd been curious what it was like from your end.

Indeed. But no matter which way we look at it, it's knackered.

Yeah, I figured that was the case. Oh well at least the game works as well as it does right?
