Drill that pin head off. Works with rivets, shoulda work with pin. Then just pull it out with pliers.
When reassembling - use the screw instead.

I have heard that you can use nail polish to tighten up ball joints, but whenever I do it, the polish always wears off in layers about a week later, is there a specific type of nail polish or method of putting it on that I don’t know about? (The nail polish I use is extra strength)

Need help with paint colors, please...

Hello, all! I need a good color match for CW Constructicon purple for a non-Devastator custom, in both regular and metallic. Spray/Rattle can options are also welcomed. Thanks for any help.

If you're alright with cheap, acrylic handbrushing, I've found a mix of three FolkArt colors (2720 Purple, 493 Bright Red, and 656 Blue Sapphire) makes a deep, metallic shade of purple. I thin it with some Pledge floor polish and clearcoat after. By playing with the mix you can probably match devastator's color. On the enamel side, Model Master Pearl Purple may be a good fit but I can't guarantee it.

Thanks for help. I am open to any options... (I'm not scared of cheap + Finish..lol) I will give your mix a shot when I get around to painting stage.

I've never used nail polish, but I tend to use super glue. You just put a few drops on the ball and either spread it a round a little bit or let it just start to set and then put the limb on and just keep moving the joint for a minute or two so the glue is drying out but not able to adhere to the surface. It creates enough friction that the joint should be tighter but..obviously there is some risk invovled.

Floor polish is infinitely better because there is no risk involved. A few of my toys are now in the trash thanks to super glue fix attempts.

Hey all, I have a backlog of customs, touch ups, and funny repurposings I'd love to share. Would I be better served making an ongoing customs thread here, or a collection thread in that forum? Not even sure if this post's in the right place! 8-}

This one's definitely NOT. You can try and open an ongoing general customs thread - I've been looking for that for a while now in here - but most people just do their own collection threads. Doesn't mean you have to follow the crowd ;)

Good enough place as any to ask.

Latebrus-K, keep them here under the Transtopia sub-forums, you can create a thread per creation or just have one mega-thread and share them all there, that's your call, that way you can get them featured in the monthly Transtopia round-ups (unless you specifically tell us not to feature them).

Thanks! Yeah, it's just for my projects, sorry if that's a disappointment. Unless I missed something in the rules, I think everyone can make topics in Transtopia?

As long as it relates to being creative.

If you just want to show off your (licensed) TF collection, there's an entirely different part of the site for that.

I've already tried the heating method but couldn't get it to budge. Any other suggestions?

What you'll need is a ColdHeat soldering pen. It's found at Home Depot, Lowes, and online for about $20. You need 4 AA batteries and joust touch the pen to the metal pin you want to heat up. This loosens the plastic around the pin and allows you to pull it free. It's how I swap tires and shoulders that use flat head pins.

When reinserting the pin I like to use a spring loaded center punch. Two strikes and the pin is usually back in place, no heat needed on the reinsertation.

Need advice

I've been considering repainting Power of the Primes Jazz to remove the cybertronian MAGA on his doors Does black paint work or is a permanent marker also a option? I know its super-tiny :-? so i don't want to risk ruining the decals around it with rubbing alcohol.

It depends on if you are going to seal the applied paint by clear coating it. If so you can use paint and a brush but the result won't be smooth. If you use a marker it will most likely be one that will have an oily sheen on its paint and this type of paint might stay sticky and gooey. So you might leave fingerprints on it if you touch it and therefore the paint will get dull. I'd suggest using a Gundam Marker OR seal the paint.

Only hand paint available that i have is called "Air Paint". Importing clear coats and other online things is next to impossible due to covid-19 in my country.

It's shown here. https://acrylicosvallejo.com/en/categor ... el-air-en/

This is a paint meant for airbrushing. Its viscosity is way lower than the one of paints meant for brushes. If you want to apply it by brush you need to be pretty patient. You will have to apply several thin layers of paint one on top of the other until you can't see the Cybertronian letters anymore.
Apply a thin layer - let it dry - apply the next one.

Good luck to you and I hope it'll get better for you soon up ther.
And I don't like Trump either but I like Cybertronian writings. I'd just leave it there and tell noone what it means.

Yea, it's not the easiest in here but doable ;)
So...
1. Scroll down and click on Upload attachment.
2. Then choose file.
3. Add the file.
4. You can add a comment to your file either before or after Add the file.
5. With Place inline you can put the file anywhere between your lines of text you want.

But if you did that up to step 3 and only uploading your file is your problem then idk :???: #-o

Could we edit this thread to allow for general tips and tricks about REPAIRS and FIXES on standard toys that have little to nothing to do with customisation?

Like if someone has broken a toy and ask for help on repairs or to improve something without having to need to create a new thread each and every times?

:-?

I'll follow up with a repair I did.

Hades from the Prime Hades Megatron set had his thin clear neck connector break on me. So I had to create a new one. Using the old as a template, I had to find the right kind of plastic to use. Not too soft, not too hard. Then dremmel and drill the part to shape.

Sure it's not perfect, but it does the job and is nice looking in white.
