From what I've gathered, Seibertron no longer has mods or "admins". Burn, I think (used?) to be an admin/mod, so he might be able to shed more light on the matter. I think, basically, this means that users aren't as susceptible to being banned? However, as (news) admins are now the equivalent of "mods", all they can do is remove or edit posts that they don't want or think is irrelevant/inappropriate.

I encountered a similar problem with a news admin, which we both came to a form of compromises over via PMs. You could try PMm'ing the admin to rectify the situation. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong here, but as they are only news admins, they cannot, for example, directly change the content of your signature, avatar, related text, etc. However, I don't advocate intentionally breaking the site rules, as I'm sure admins or ex mods could always contact the site owner if things got to that point?

As for reporting, I think this site has a "report post" option, so you could, theoretically, report a post by a news admin and include a complaint about them removing your post? However, from what I've gathered, even admins/ex-mods have the same chances of action being taken in some instances? I think I remember an admin recently complaining about ads causing problems with the main site page and seemingly the current reporting system being ineffective in getting a reaction/fix?

Well, the specific issue I had is that the news staff member in question apparently decided it would be funny to inject their own text into one of my posts.

Ah, I see.

That one was a mistake, one I've seen before. Just an honest mistake and no need to report it or anything.

That option is there for staff members as a moderation tool. As far as I have seen, it has never been used in any abusive manner.

And the general way of reporting something like that is to include a link to the post and email to the site owner himself, I believe it stated in several places including the forum rules to email him directly. It's easier than having a single report button that goes directly to him, that would cause a lot of issues with the way moderation works.

I believe the problem was addressed in the thread you linked to, prior to you coming here to this thread? Unless, at that thread, it wasn't by the time you came here?

For me, on mobile, it can be really frustrating using some sites, as the buttons for subscribing to threads/saving/deleting the posts are right next to other buttons, such as "post/send message" etc. They're are heaps of other problems too. For example, at Seibertron, there's no automatic pop-up or blocking system that alerts me if my signature image is too big/takes up too much bandwidth. So, after I "successfully" save my sig pic, I become confused when I get irate messages from some mods or fellow users about "massive signatures that break the site rules".

Personal opinion here, not that it means much ...

The ONLY time a post should be edited is if it's being used for a news posting and is to "clean" it up.

Under NO circumstances should a post be edited by anyone else to remove/change the post. If it's a problem, it should be reported and then left alone for the correct staff (which as we all know are now non-existant) to handle and so they can see what's going on.

Saying it was a mistake is a weak excuse. He's been on the site long enough to know what he's doing and quite frankly, it fits with the sort of stuff he's done in the past. But it can't be proved otherwise so you just gotta let it go.

The problem is you being too lazy to actually check it for yourself before uploading. Don't blame the site for this when you can easily check the properties of an image yourself. Take some responsibility for YOUR image.

That was a bit uncalled for, Burn. Usually, most other sites have an error message of some sort, which helps when either newbies or regular users (suffering from a temporary lapse in memory) make a mistake. I don't often update my signature and forgot. I also don't really know if an animated gif is fine unless I either have edited it myself via another app, or manually checked its properties. It's an easy mistake to make, which is probably why many sites have such popups. Seibertron actually does have a similar error message appear when trying to upload/attach files, such as animated gifs, etc to regular posts.

Also, just to clarify, I didn't think that I "blamed" the site. I acknowledge that I made a mistake, which was connected to how the site is designed, that's all.

I simply used my experience as a thumbnail to show that, due to limitations of technology, mistakes can happen. I've had beef with the news admin in question and even you (rightly or wrongly) but if either of you made the same error and then publicly acknowledged it (and provided it wasn't in between some sort of argument or flame-war), I would be inclined to give either of you the benefit of the doubt.

It is NOT a limitation of technology. The ability to check an images properties has been around since before Windows 7. (You could probably do it before that too with the right software)

This is what YOU do though. You blame others. You NEVER take responsibility for yourself, it's why there was, and probably still is, a **** load of your posts getting reported, because you do what you want, when you want, and when called out on it, you try to blame the other party.

Could the site do with a pop up like that? Sure, but YOU could also take a bit of responsibility when putting your sig pic together. In fact, it's what everyone should be doing rather than relying on a piece of software to tell them they've buggered up.

*Sigh*. Burn, we love you, we all really do. I'm sure no one else has this problem and it's mainly just me, just as with Kanrabat, it was mainly a "problem" unique to how they use(d) the site. I fully acknowledge that the mistake was mine.

Perhaps you could suggest a better simile to website design linked to user error?

Interesting. It shows that you don't have admin privileges, but you are seeing the spam bots that only admins can see. Gotta figure that out. Going to take me until next week.

I wasn't talking about spambots actually, although I do see the same that anyone can see when a new member registers (just look or click on their website links). I am referring to certain new members that are spamming up sections of the board for reasons I won't say just yet.

You have my number, you can text or call and Ill explain in more detail.
