I just saw the movie with my niece at the local theater. I saw it in French, of course.

So, how was it?
FREAKING AMAZING!

The theater cost was well worth it. Not only the movie was well made, fun, and entertaining. There were no dead moments, nothing cringe, no "current year" anything, and the movie had total respect for the overall lore.

There was also many, many Easter Eggs and references to hunt down. Also, the French version for Canada is in QUEBEC French. It shows especially in the first scenes. Love it.

As for the "is the movie woke or anti-woke" debate, it's neither. Leave the tinfoil hat at home and bask in the pure entertainment of the movie.

I'm looking forward the inevitable sequel.
It's also been years since I bought a movie. Once the Blue Ray comes out, I'll buy it for sure.

I saw it a few weeks back with my daughter on her senior band trip to Atlanta and was pleasantly surprised that it was good (with zero woke or anti woke as kanrabat mentioned) with a sh1t ton of easter eggs ranging from the SMBSS theme to other nice additions.

Modern technology also help bring the REAL Super Mario world to life in pure CGI cartoon form.

I'm glad that this time around, the producers were not stubborn into making a live action movie like back in 1993.

Saw it the weekend it came it. It was good. Leauges better than the 1993 abomination.

But it wasn't great. I blame it mainly on the pacing which was always at a 10 and never slowed down. This was my biggest gripe with TF: TLK. I think another 15 minutes could have helped the film some. Also, the Kongs were the weak part. They based them around Mario Kart just to be able to throw that reference in there. The Kart sequence was fun throwing in all the items that could be used. But casting for that Blue Shelled Koopa, I would have gone with Youtuber Dashie since it's common knowledge about his rivalry with Donkey Kong in Mario Kart. They also screwed up Donkey and Crankys relations. There is supposed to be a generation between them named Donkey Kong Junior. The voice action for them, especially Cranky, was bad as well. Toads also got wasted as bring another body and was useless after Mario met Peach.

But it had plenty of high points with easter eggs everywhere. The nihilistic Luma was hilarious frequently bringing down the mood of the dungeon despite sounding positive. Even the old cartoon was nodded to through the origin story of the brothers being plumbers from Brooklyn. They also established the powerups rule where if you get hit once you lose it. And there was no shortage of them either.

Luigi needs to shine in the next film. I think they could have had a montages of him going through the obstacle course during the credits sequence.
