I do like the hazy IPAs, AKA New England style IPAs. Not a huge fan of regular IPAs though, too bitter. But those Hazies are nice and floral.

Ah, I did not know that a hazy IPA was New England style - good to know. I nice hazy juicy IPA is one of my favs, especially for the summer heat.

It's crazy to see the local brewers and distilleries making hand sanitizer. I saw Urban South branded sanitizer today while I was in NOLA servicing a store.

Strange times we live in.

So this week, Bri and I have really gotten into some new things. Monday we made chicken hasselbach, which turned out super good. Tuesday was homemade Pizza Fritta, complete with homemade sauce, dough, etc. Wednesday we made some ravioli with the addition of hot sausage, fresh chopped basil and garlic, and it was so good.

She also baked a strawberry rhubarb pie, which turned out magnificent. It has been a great week for food.

We also went out and bought stuff to make our own porch garden. Got some Strawberries, green peppers, lettuce, onions, basil, parsley, and oregano. We'll see how this turns out!

I used to love me some Nutella when I was younger. Nowadays, since I'm about 40 pounds overweight, it's a rare treat.

MEAT, it's what's for dinner!

Grilled a small pork roast the other night.

Image

Seasoned it, seared it, wrapped it in foil and took it off direct heat. Then took it out of the foil for a little more smoke flavor and char.

Turned out very good.

Image

I'm really looking forward to the left over toasted sammiches.

Oh, this meat! Looks yummy! But I'm on a diet, unfortunately. Maybe banana pudding will save me tonight, want to cook it.

You’re on a diet...and you’re not allowed to eat meat...but you can eat banana pudding? What kind of diet is this?

Here's something that I love to eat since ever. A simple recipe for a hearty breakfast.

First, fry one egg on a pan. Be sure the egg have the yolk pierced and kinda mixed with the white. Cook thoroughly on both sides. Do NOT season the egg.

While the egg is cooking, make a pair of toasts.

Once the egg and toasts are ready, spread enough peanut butter on at least one toast. Put the egg on the buttered toast and complete the sandwich with the other toast.

There you go, a delicious and filling egg-peanut-butter sandwich! This go well with coffee.

=P~

We celebrated our 18th wedding anny last weekend, so I fired up Panama to grill some filet mignon.

She was running hot, but couldn't crack 500°.

the dorkiest beer coozie ever

I'm a cheapass so I re-use my charcoal, but a full chimney load of fresh lump charcoal will kick it up and sometimes over 500°. Not that there's much of a difference, but you know bragging rights and all that.

Image
once you go chimney, you don't go back

Here's the half eaten results, paired with grilled asparagus and a pinot noir.

it is indeed, what's for dinner - moo!

What kind of savage doesn’t melt the cheese? :-P

But seriously, I could go for some mashed potatoes in a bread bowl...

Shrimp

1 of the few foods I flat out refuse to eat again. Oysters are another.

19 years ago today the world changed for a lot of people, especially in the US. I still remember everything I did on that day. Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like now if that never happened.

If you grew up with it I'm sure it's different. I tried shrimp when I was a teenager over 20 years ago, I remember it being disgusting. Maybe I had bad shrimp? I was told I should try fried shrimp, it tastes different. So I might do that. But oysters? Never had, never will. I've seen people eat them and honestly it's not appealing. But to each their own.

I read somewhere that oysters are eaten alive? Nope nope nope, not for me, nuh uh. That's even worse than picking your own live lobster for cooking! :-(

Never been able to enjoy seafood. I try it everyonce and a while and come away going, "nope"

Only exception is salmon.

I like most types of fish, baked or fried. But lobster, crab legs, shrimp and oysters are a no-no. I haven't tried calamari yet.

Just shrimp and fish fingers for me on the rare occasion, salmon if I really have to. My folks are bigger sea food lovers, but not by much.
