I don't know why but I thought they cancelled that. Was season 1 any good (to those that watched it)? I was interested in seeing it but life got in the way

As a huge Sons of Anarchy fanboy, I'm not sure how tight to get my hopes up for this.

It was amazing. The only new show I've liked enough to purchase since son's of Anarchy ended.

Don't. I'm not going to bother with it, wasn't a fan of the last few seasons of SOA.

Same here, after season 4 the show was just depressing. I kept watching hoping it would turn around, but it didn't. I might check out Mayans because I want to have an opinion on it as its own show, but I won't be too excited. I would have rather watched a prequel to SoA, taking place in the 60s and 70s, telling the story of the founding of the gang and the First 9.

Well I just want to recommend Christopher Robin to anyone who gets the chance to see it. I'm not usually a live-action Disney fan, as they just seem to rehash old products with new packaging (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, etc.), but this film was a delight to view. Speaking as someone who grew up watching the classic cartoons and reading the books, it was heartwarming and tearjerking to see the characters so beautifully realized.

I saw The Meg over the weekend, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was a really good film, I enjoyed it very much. It was definitely an improvement over the last couple of shark movies I saw, lot of action and some humor. I definitely recommend it. ;)^

So what did I see last night?

Image

>:oP

I don't want to say this was a BAD movie per say... but I was definitely disappointed. And I think this is going to get very spoiler'ish, so consider yourself forewarned!
(I'm not actually going to put spoiler tags in)

-First off, it suffers from Bayformer-itis. Too much focus on humans, which I give zero ****s about. Also too much humor. Think MCU only 18+.

-There's 2 Predator's. Big Pred, and lil Pred.
Lil Pred is on the scene first, and has some pretty decent kills, but he gets his head literally ripped off in the first minutes of big Pred being on the scene. Which is shocking, but anticlimactic. And honestly this is where the "Predator fun" ended for me. Because big Pred doesn't really do anything a traditional Predator does. He's a tank, and acts like a tank. Nothing stealthy, doesn't avoid getting hit by bullets cause they don't hurt him, uses zero melee weapons, has no shoulder cannon thingy, and has no armor besides a wrist thingy which sort of acts as a cannon or chain weapon. Honestly it's hard to distinguish what that thing does. But he's just seriously boring.

-They introduce new plot devices, that either go nowhere OR shake the foundation of everything that came before it. APPARENTLY, the Predators collect skulls and spinal columns in order to extract DNA from the strongest of any given species, to incorporate into themselves, to make them more superior. That gave me flashbacks to Midichlorians. The go-nowhere bits are pretty much all the exposition regarding human's being endangered, why big Pred was after lil Pred, why big Pred is so big, and so on.

-The shadowy government villain man (Sterling K. Brown), if you blink, disappears in one of the final scenes. During a firefight, he's using his own Predator shoulder cannon, turns his head, which turns the gun at his own head, fires, and blows his head off. And it all happens so fast, that if you blink you will literally miss it. Which is another incredibly anticlimactic moment.

-The Pred dogs are weird. In "Predators" they had alien canine looking things which was all well and good, because they looked quite different. But in this movie, they have dogs, that look like Predators. It's like, a Predator face, on a dog body. How... does this make any sense. Think about if our earth canines had human looking faces. Wut?

-The final scene is essentially the main army dude and Olivia Munn VS big Pred. Big Pred has so many opportunities to one hand murder the pair of them but simply tosses them around because I guess the plot demands it? They manage to put themselves together in time and end him, but it's pretty annoying to watch big Pred unwaveringly slaughter 100 people and then "decide" to take it slow for the last two.

-Dear Movie Makers: enough with the children already, and ex machina devices. The weird brilliant child resets 20 chess boards at the start of the movie and I think "dammit he's going to be able to decipher Pred tech or something stupid like that, saving the day". I was right, he does, it's annoying.

-Lil Pred, really survived until the end of the movie, being a crucial cog in taking down big Pred. I feel it was a missed opportunity and he was really underused. And while we're on lil Pred, he was there essentially to save humanity. So... why all the murdering when you landed bro? He's like "LET ME HELP YOU" *stab stab stab*

-The very end, reveals what lil Pred was here to give humanity: the anti-Predator suit. Which is literally an Ironman suit that looks like a Predator but I assume can't fly. After you see it, I did a facepalm. I just find it very uninspired.

So you might think I hated this movie, but I didn't. There were still some good things in there. Jake Busey playing Keyes Junior. The call-backs to Pred 1-2. The music. But I can easily say that this is the weakest Predator movie (maybe only ranked above AVP2 Requiem). If you're a casual fan, I'd say don't waste your time. As a hardcore fan, wait for home release. I'm rarely upset about seeing a movie in the theater, and I'm still ok with this one, but can't recommend it.

That sounds quite disappointing really, I was looking forward to this but not many of the reviews I've said have been all that encouraging.

Well, recently I've found myself quite hooked on the show "Lucifer" streaming on Hulu. It's a fun show, and you don't see that too often anymore. Probably ticks off the overly religious, but what doesn't? I'm quite happy Netflix picked it up for a fourth season.

Also, I've watched the first two episodes of Mayans M.C. It's no Sons, but it's pretty good.

I've really enjoyed Lucifer so far, luckily I'm not overly religious so I like this take on the devil.

Love, Death and Robots.

It's an 18 episode animated anthology series. Some bloody smashing episodes, some "WTF did I just watch episodes", and some you can forget.

All Hail The Yoghurt

Yeah, well, I'm watching now.

The first episode is creepy.

Second was pretty funny with a hilarious ending.

The third, which is on now, is straight **** up.

Not sure if anime counts (do we have an anime thread? I legitimately cannot remember) but me and mum have been watching The Vision of Escaflowne together. It's really, really good and I'd recommend it to anyone. Beautiful music, ASTOUNDING animation and lots of really original ideas. As mum pointed out, it's like they took TLK's "robot knights" theme and did it the justice a concept that awesome deserves (albeit 21 years beforehand).

Also, Dilandau. YE GODS Dilandau.

I thought the same thing about Black Mirror.

Except I didn't think "bloody smashing," because... y'know... 'Merica! :-D

It's really an animated Black Mirror, but maybe slightly less disturbing.

Not gonna lie, I'm going to see it when it comes out. But now that the Endgame hype is over, and we got no Hulk vs. Thanos  I can't wait to see John Wick 3 in a couple of weeks.

You're a braver man then me, though from that trailer alone, Jim Carrey is killing it as Robotnik.

All the more reason for a rematch,
even if Hulk lost again, he should have been there for the final fight.

In other news, that sonic trailer? Because of the internets reaction, they are changing Sonics design. Which raises a few questions. First being that the film opens in November, can they really go back and change all scenes involving Sonic in that time frame and do all the other post production work? Secondly, the merchandise that will likely accompany the film, is it too late to change that? Given that toys and the like generally start popping up a month before release to build hype.

It's easy to see why the conspiracy theory that "they had already changed the design before but released the trailer using the old model to build awareness" came from :-?

I'm kinda glad they are going back and changing that Sonic design. I don't know anything Sonic outside of some Smash Brothers, but seeing that design, the teeth and the face in general was not good. It was really creepy, so I hope they tweak it some, it was not good to me
