So, I'm nine episodes into 00. And I love it! I want Damashii figures of all the Gundams, they're SO COOL...!

...though unfortunately, I can only find the Exia Repair II/III, and the 00 Raiser. No standard Exia, Dynames, Kyrios, or Virtue (or the other season 2 Gundams if there are any) for me. :(

Glad you're enjoying 00 :-) there is a movie continuation but again it has very mixed reviews

Eh, I might watch it anyway. Thinking of trying Build Fighters after I finish 00, or would it be too confusing for a newbie?

There's a lot of references you might not get but I love the series all the same. There's even a fantastic looking exia variant at the end, the exia amazing

Alright. I'm also thinking of watching Wing, since my father watched it back in the day. Any series that I should just avoid entirely?

If you're going to buy Damashii figures, this list will be your friend

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Robot_Damashii

From the top of my head, there are no figures yet of Dynames, Kyrios or virtue

A lot depends on personal preference but I personally avoid seed destiny and sd gundam force.

Thank you both again! Speaking of Build Fighters...my heart wants to get into Gunpla (especially after seeing the new Perfect Grade Exia with the lighting), but my brain is fighting tooth and nail to prevent it. I feel like I'll stick to Robot Damashii for now.

18 episodes into 00, enjoying it greatly. I also watched Gundam Thunderbolt in its entirety.

...I still want figures of the main 00 Gundams (Exia, Kyrios, Dynames, Virtue, 00 Raiser, Arios, Cherudim, and Seravee) in a unified scale, but I'm now willing to look at Gunpla. I do not want HG kits, but...Master Grade would work. Are there MGs of all eight?

There's actually twelve as they got new gundam for the awakening of trailblazer movie, I'm not certain if they all have master grades I would need to do some research

The rabbit hole goes ever deeper...thanks for looking into things. I'm guessing I'd have to get them all off Amazon or something, so what would be fair prices?

That all depends on size, with Amazon you're likely to have multiple vendors for each model kit. On the past I've generally paid about £35-40 per master grade but some can be more expensive depending on if it's an older kit or if the mobile suit it's for is really big (I'm looking at you mg sazabi)

Not too bad a price. In terms of painting, uh...would they still look decent without paint? And how bad are the stickers?

Straight out the box they look good in my opinion, the only think you may want to do is panel lining (there's tonnes of tutorials on YouTube for that). There maybe so elements that would look good painted but those tend to be optional pieces like on the mg f91 kit for example, it comes with a base that resembles the enemy mobile armour from the movie, complete with iron mask figure. Out of the box it's not that special but painted it really pops but its up to you if you even want to build it as it's not essential to the f91.

Stickers- you tend to get two types of stickers, you get the traditional sticky back type, these are like for the eyes if you're not painting them. Then you get the transfers which you apply with a little bit of water.

How tough are transfers to apply?

Also, doing some research, I've found some 1/100 figures of the Dynames, Kyrios, and Virtue, but according to the listings they're NGs?

No grades lack articulation in areas and have less features than their master grade counterparts, as such though they are cheaper

Ah, okay. Should still be alright to display with MGs, I imagine. Found some for the Cherudim, Arios, and Seravee, as well as an MG Exia and 00 Raiser. If at all possible, I think I'm gonna get all eight...

Go for it :-) unless you regularly mess around with the models, you probably won't miss the added stuff anyway.

Yeah...I'll admit, my stuff is on the shelf more often than not. As long as they aren't missing anything, I don't mind too much.

I don't think I have the patience for gundams, but I sure do enjoy looking at what people make. Then again that goes for models or TF customs in general.

Oooh, Gundam! I love Gundam. I still need to watch more (I've watched the movie trilogy, 08th MS Team and War in the Pocket, though I need to rewatch the latter two eventually- I'm going to watch the series in production order as I'm told that's the best way to watch it) but I love what I've seen.

Once my workbench is free of the trillions of Warhammer 40,000 models I'm painting I need to get myself an actual Gunpla. What's the best HG Zaku out there? I'd rather avoid RGs and MGs until I'm a bit more acquainted with building simpler models, as whilst I'm proficient at modelling I have little experience with Gunpla.

WreckerJack wrote:I don't think I have the patience for gundams, but I sure do enjoy looking at what people make. Then again that goes for models or TF customs in general.

Gundams are easier to do than TF customs (or so I'm told, I have yet to build an actual Gunpla, though I am making an Eva Unit 01 plamo which is similar). The main thing is they come on sprues and you aseemble them yourself, and they also have good parts breakup. This means that rather than taking an existing toy and risking breaking it by removing pins and rivets, you can build it at your own pace, and rather than having to mask large complex areas for painting you can keep it in easy to paint sub-assemblies. You don't necessarily need to paint them, though obviously they will look better for paint.

My advice (as a model maker) would be:

>Start with something simple, like an SD kit or an HG.
>Take care to gradually remove and sand clean nub marks from where you clipped them off the sprue- remove them with a hobby knife and sand them smooth with progressively fine grit sandpaper.
>Most newer kits don't need glue, but some older kits will need it and all kits will look better with the join seams glued and filled in.
>If you don't want to paint it, I'd recommend panel lining them. The easiest way to do this is with a fineliner or a Gundam marker- I'd recommend dark grey instead of black for any white parts, as black panel lining can look a bit artificial.
>When you get confident enough to paint, I'd HIGHLY recommend using an airbrush. Get a decent one (gravity feed preferably), do your homework and learn to use it well. It's a steep learning curve but when you get the hang of it you'll never look back.

So far I've seen Thunderbolt and around half of 00. I'm gonna start watching Wing tonight with my father, as that's the series he saw back in the day.
