i like that they basically enlarge the entire body with limbs, instead of just the legs as on some mecha. those feet extensions do look horrible, though.

Like they did with Ground Gosei Great. I agree on the boots, wish they'd at least fold in.

Most of the mecha in the last three series have just been horrible to me. I actually liked Great Gokai-Oh, despite the odd combinations.

You mean Kanzen Gokai-Oh? He's a good final upgrade for the main mecha, but I'm not a fan of them using only the arms of Gouzyuzin and leaving the rest. It's like Optimus Prime's trailer

The combined mechas (I name them "Stage 2 Combo's") I really like are:
- Super Galaxy Mega / Astro Delta Megazord
- Time Robo Shadow Alpha/Beta / Shadow Force Megazord
- GouraiSenpuujin / Thunderstorm Megazord
- Daikai Shinken-Oh / Claw Armor Megazord
- Ground Gosei Great / Gosei Great Grand Megazord

Messes with parts randomly attached are a pet peeve of mine, like Samurai Ha-Oh, Engine-Oh G9 and G12, and especially Great Go-Buster and Go-Buster King, my goodness...

The Combination of Solar Saver and Planet Saver, called Galaxy Saver I think, just new arms and boots. Simple, yet effective.

Hey all,

Inlcuding Super Sentai and Power Rangers, who is the coolest Pink?

I'm leaning towards Rin, Houou Ranger from Dairainger over Amy, Kyoryu Pink from Kyoryuger. Both are tough and not to be taken lightly, but Rin found the Rai Rai Jewels all by herself allowing the Dairangers to eventually form Dairen'oh. Amy played a key role in helping to keep the team together, but Rin is more of a bad---.

My opinion may change as I need to see the series between Kakuranger (currently watching) and Goseiger (watched that first during Kyoryuger's run because I wanted to see what Megaforce was based off of and I am deeply disappointed with Megaforce and Super Megaforce, deeply disappointed), but for now I choose Rin from Dairanger.

So I toss the question out to everyone, who is the coolest Pink?

Haven't seen enough of Super Sentai to make a fair call on the Sentai Pinks, but having seen all of Power Rangers, it's a very easy pick for me among the Pink Rangers.

Jen Scotts, Time Force Pink.

Though, Kat and Karone are the hottest ones.

To be honest, haven't seen all that many of the super sentai series to make a judgement call on that side of things. But I got to agree with Sabrblade on Jen Scotts, definitely my favorite pink, mostly 'cause she was a hardass and really was the leader in the beginning. Plus that leather outfit she was sporting in Reinforcements from the Future didn't hurt.

I think that's a toss-up between Rin from dairanger and Saya from gingaman, from what i've seen currently.
Rin is just a bad-ass all-around who's the only one with Ki powers in civvie mode and regularly flattens cannon-fodder troops under her split-jumps
While i haven't seen gingaman fully yet, Saya is quite a tomboy who can actually scare the other guys when she gets angry.

Honorable mention for Mako from shinkenger, who is only good at wielding a sword and nothing else.

No question for me Jen Scotts wins for Power Rangers, but Rin still edges her out overall for me, so far. Though both proved to be one women wrecking crews, Jen didn't show that ability until the crossover the following season. Rin was always that good, so she wins for me. :PEACE:

A new Type for the summer movie has been revealed for Drive!

Looks a LOT like Type Speed, but sporting neon green/yellow and black/purple/blue. Along with new shoulders and a new head. I'm wondering if this is Shift Next or Shift Special.

With the going price of MMPR Pink Figuart I decided to give up getting all of them. I made a deal last night to trade my blue, black and yellow for PR Dino Thunder Thundersaurus Megazord and DinoStegazord. Considering I bought the Figuarts on clearance for $11.75 each I think it's a good deal. I still have an extra blue and black unopened and a green that's opened.

So, i've recently finished watching Kakuranger, Gingaman and Carranger. I quite liked them actually. It's certainly interesting to see actors returning in a different role in a later series (ninjared sasuke -> black knight hyuuga).
kakuranger was quite goofy, gingaman was quite serious but also had a very innocent vibe going on, and carranger just had the sillyness up to 9000. especially the running gag with every alien mispronouncing the name of earth (chiiiikyu instead of chikyuu) amused me a lot.

So, Star Ninjer. I like him and all but would have been to much to have gotten an actor who speaks flawless American English like Jiraya in Kakuranger? Drives me bonkers. :HEADHURTS:

Honestly, I agree, it would've been funnier to have an American yelling out all those nutty phrases.

Also, the possible next Kamen Rider series has been hinted at: Kamen Rider Ghost. Super excited if this turns out to be true, it can either go a ghostbuster route (using tech or something to track down and catch ghosts/monsters) or a Kiva/Wizard route (lead character is part-whatever-the-monsters-are and is using their abilities to fight them). Besides, I want to see a Rider named Griever or Scythe and those names would fit in perfectly.

It's cool. I really like the eye-switching gimmick for who's "Driving" the form, too. When Belt takes over, he's got nearly a Type Technic (Going with that spelling because it's written on the tire) level of calculated movement, and calm precision in his fighting style. I also rather like the look of Shift Tridoron, with the garage of other shift cars inside it. If I were buying the toys this year, I'd love to get it. Tire mix ability is interesting, too, makes for some very interesting looking tires on him. Overall, as an ultimate form, compared to the last five years, it's about mid-range for me. I like it better than Gaim's Kiwami Arms, and OOO's Putotyra Combo, but less than Fourze's Cosmicstates and Wizard's Infinity Style (Though Wizard was not as good a show, in my opinion, his final form looked awesome, and his weapon was pretty damn cool)

I agree, though I'm a tiny bit against saying it is better then OOO, then again, I'm biased, mainly because I thought the gimmick and combinations in that series were freaking awesome.

OOO was an amazing series, don't get me wrong. I just wasn't a fan of Putotyra as an ultimate form. It was my least favourite combo in the entire series, so I hated seeing it get preferential treatment over what I thought was an arsenal of far better combos that could be used. In fact, in both cases of the ultimate forms I didn't like, I found the mid-season upgrade forms to be much cooler, Tajador Combo and Kachidoki Arms were my all-time favourite mid-season upgrades.

Oh yeah, I agree there, I liked the idea of the dinosaur core medals being more "potent" then the others and controlling Eiji, but I am with you on the TaJaDor form being cooler. The only thing that bugged me about it was how the Taka head changed in that form. All the other forms, whenever all three types were used to create one of this stronger forms, the design stayed the same. Batta for example, it didn't change to create GataKiriBa (probably misspelled that), or how Tora didn't change in the LaToRah combos. I still love it, don't get me wrong, but I just kind of wish the head had stayed the same, even if it had decreased the look of the combo.

Gah! Nobody told me we were having a toku thread.
Sabrblade wrote:1. How many Tokusatsu or Tokusatsu-esque shows/movies/etc., of any country of origin, have you seen?

The best of Power Rangers from MMPR to Turbo (translation: random reruns or just mid-season episodes, rarely did I see premieres or finales), the latter half of Space, and pretty much all of Lost Galaxy through Mystic Force.
Every Super Sentai from Dekaranger to the present, as well as Jetman, Zyuranger, and Dairanger. Currently watching Kakuranger.
Every Kamen Rider from 1992 (Shin) to the present. Kuuga is the best.
I started watching Ultraman Mebius on Crunchyroll a few months ago. Really good show.
I've seen every live action season of Garo, but not the anime. Yet.
I saw most of Beetleborgs and Metallix as a kid.
My only notable Metal Heroes experience is with the recent Gavan and Shaider movies. I still need to watch Sharivan. I saw the first episode of B-Fighter, no more.
I saw Sh15uya, and a little bit of Cutie Honey The Live.
About half of Gransazer, didn't get to Justiriser or Sazer X.
And I watched about 10 episodes of Rescue Force. It didn't really tickle my fancy, but I'll finish it eventually.
I haven't seen any Thai, Korean, Chinese, etc. series.

2. Is anyone else here currently watching Power Rangers: Dino Charge and relieved that it's finally no longer too painful to sit through like the last four years of the Neo-Saban era have been?

I saw the first few episodes and it was great. I need to watch the rest. I follow Yoshi Sudarso on Facebook and he's a great guy. It's awesome to have a ranger actor who's a sentai fan. I hope I can meet him at a con someday.

3. Has anyone else here seen that atrocious gratuitously dark/violent/grim/gritty/NSFW "Power/Rangers" fanfilm starring James Van Der Beek and Katie Sackhoff?

I saw it. It's kind of fascinating. It's meant to be a dark satire on the idea of gritty reboots, but it is NOT a fanfilm, because the director has explicitly said he's not a fan of Power Rangers and knows very little about it. This doesn't make it any better, because it's still devoid of any substance, but I understand what they were trying to convey with it.

Sorry I'm late to the party, somebody should have invited me.

Welcome to toku central, here anyways...

So, Ultraman X, anticipated or dreaded? I personally like the look, but I HATE the continued gimmick system, it seems like all the series are copying one another now. I mean, doll system for transforming into characters = Ultraman Ginga/Gokaiger. Cards = Ultraman X/Goseiger/Blade and Decade. Mini versions of signature motifs = Drive/ToQger. With any luck, the next Sentai and Rider series will have a more original gimmick idea. Although I wouldn't mind a tarot card themed Rider in Ghost.

Speaking of Kamen Rider Ghost, what path do you think they're going to take? A Ghostbusters type path, using tech to stop the paranormal? Or a paranormal rider, using "ghost" powers to fight the paranormal (like Kiva or Wizard)? Or something different I haven't considered yet?
