Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing a hissy fit over this. I just think this is the one building in the UK that shouldn't be done up like Nazi HQ.

I wasn't there for either of those events so they have no effect on me so I don't care and really were any of you people friends with Churchill?

If not why do you care it doesn't effect your everyday life?

It's a movie it's not like Bay is a Nazi himself or trying to destroy the place he just dressed a building up to be like another building for a movie.

And you guys do know that Bay is allowed to film there with permission and all so obviously the owners of the building agreed to it so it's as much as their fault as it is Bay's

Are you forgetting what the Movie Seekers are?

Those guys are the ancient guys like Jetfire who transform into old vehicles like old cars and planes.

Does anyone actually pay attention to these films before dismissing them as trash?

What you're suggesting is to completely disregard the past and not care about it simply because you weren't personally involved it. If you want to go that way, fine; but I can tell you without a doubt that's a rather specific philosophy that many of us do not subscribe to. I respect the contributions of the people of the past despite not knowing them personally, and hence I wish to respect them as people as well. So please don't dismiss it as if it shouldn't matter to me. That's utterly ridiculous.

I really don't want to continue the conversation past this, but just so I'm absolutely clear: you're saying everything in the past was for nothing and worthless, within the context that the specific example we are talking about was the prevention of the Nazis successfully taking over the world and enforcing their dictatorship upon us all.
I'm just checking; you do know this, right? Not even in connection to any prior argument; just checking because I'm a little concerned. You're saying that stopping that didn't matter?

Um, okay? I guess? I mean, so, does 9/11 not mean anything to people born after September Eleventh 2001? It doesn't matter?

I wasn't there when people still owned thousands of other people just because of the color of their skin...does that mean that shouldn't matter?

I wasn't there when Pearl Harbor happened. Does that mean the coutless lives lost don't matter?

I wasn't there when the Atomic Bombs dropped. Does that mean those people that died are just stepping stones to the future? Their deaths don't matter?

The hundreds upon hundreds of people oppressed, tortured, and killed, I wasn't there, so their lives don't matter. Eh, I don't care.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to get an understanding of your philosophy.

I think he's contending that the past only matters if you learn from it or maybe that the only way to truly honor the past is to learn from it and do better.

From that perspective, arguing over where you film a movie or how you dress the set would seem petty - like fussing over your grand-dad's grave marker while the neighborhood bully beats up your brother. On the other hand, in that context, complaining about someone complaining about the grave-marker would be just as petty.

I agree, it does seem to be leaning a little towards being in bad taste, but maybe it's being used for one of those time-travel-changed-the-future shock scenes where the bad future is summarized succinctly in a scene with a caption -this would certainly fulfill that role :-?

England makes sense, as much of the architecture to the layman is similar to what he's looking for, and production costs were probably cheaper than say...Czech Republic or whatnot (as many formerly oppressed nations would laugh at the idea).also, just about any reference to Nazi's, has been erased from German history, not even taught in schools, and the swastika is illegal. New groups have formed entirely new graphics around their movements as a result.

Fair enough. My apologies. I get wanting to protect something you love, but ya gotta admit, the Bayverse ain't helped itself.

I love the first film. Second is alright. Third I started getting fatigued though I love Nimoy's return to the fold as Sentinel Prime. That frickin' voice! Fourth, I had high hopes for but it was too long, too meandering and the Dinobots were utterly wasted. It's only real redeeming features were Frank Welker as Mega....Galvatron and John Goodman because I love John Goodman.

I am... numb. That is the only way I can describe my reaction to this. Part of me want to laugh, and part of me wants to rage at the screen, so now I'm just numb.

Regarding plot, I think this may confirm something I have been thinking which is that the Transformers movies will introduce Transformers characters in other time periods. Like maybe showing a robot's appearance and backstory years or centuries before, and then them all meeting up with the regular cast years later.
