Ok, so I picked up Rodimus Prime yesterday, and I have to say I am glad I did not really listen to the negative talk on the figure, this guy is really awesome!

I really like the space winnebago mode, it's awesome! And it all tabs in properly, it looks slick, and it's totally unique to my collection.

Hot Rod's car mode is pretty good too. the only small gripe I have is that his windshield and hood are ever so slightly gapped. But that's really it.

Hot Rod mode is the weakest mode in my opinion. But it's still not bad. It's mainly in the arms that things are wonky.

Rodimus Prime mode is awesome. I love how Hot Rod transforms into the torso and shoulders for Prime mode. It's awesome! And to me, it's a bit more creative than just folding into a box and inserting into someones chest. This thing is fun and he is awesome!

They did not have Optimus, but I plan to use him to order the SG Roddy as quick as I can.

As a side note, it is going to be so much fun to swap some parts considering there are 4 pieces to each Rodimus. Make a half black/half outlandish Prime

It's either Nautilor or Overbite that turns into the gun, but Nautilator has precedent not only in-fiction (being such a bumbling oaf the rest are hesitant to include him with the main body), but with box sets as well. Out of the Scramble City Combiners, Piranacon/King Poseidon has the most variations in media.

G1 Piranacon could hold up the Weapon Mode Seacons just fine, as the main joint is inside Snaptrap, and it's a heavy ratchet one. The arm simply falling out is a more likely scenario if the connection is loose. I will say Nautilator makes a lousy arm compared to the rest.

He seems great if you don't want him to throw a dynamic pose for a display, I too just want him for the fun angle (space winnebago ftw)

Sure, but I am a bit sick of the silverbolt transformation, I woudl really want somethig new rather than a heavy retool of a heavy retool.

Eh, no. The whole "robot limbs are animal limbs" works against it, plus the G1 figure made sure to have the front ones fold in half so they're short and stubby. Nice attempt tho.

Wow! The Dinobots look sooo good! Love slag, with the smaller dino head and fattness of his dino mode. They all look bloody perfect!
Combined mode looks awesome, a bit Evangelionish becouse of the slenderness and long arms. Very cool and also great to have Grimlocks T-Rex head as the chest. Very cool design and engineering!

Movie line:
Not interested because I siriously hate the movie and beginning to start to really dislike the newer movie designs. They don't look like Transformers anymore, they're just like big men in sci fi spacesuits. They look like Power Rangers/The Flash/Cyborg from the past movies.
That dragon thing, 12 big space suits wearing humans transform into a crapton of barbwire in the rough shape of a dragon. Looks really, really bad.

Combiner Wars Blast off:
Really dissapointed in the figure, so dissapointed I bought the Hasbro version (an Aerialbot repaint) and tried to switch heads. Spoiler alert, different sized balljoints so don't even try.

The shoulders are terrible on Blast Off, the chest is big and clunky, and the cockpit doesn't transform right, something tends to get in the way all the time.

Overall very bad design, it should be very easy to get the torso and shoulders right since his arms are cheated and simply on the side. They really dropped the ball on this new mold.

So I'm not excited for a Hasbro repaint, it's one of the worst Combiner Wars figures.
And that's to bad because Blast Off is one of my favorite G1 Toys.
I mean seriously, they couldn't even get the colors right, DARK BROWN people, dark brown. I don't care for some comic or rare toy. He was dark brown in the cartoon and toy. Why light brown?
The headsculpt is very cool though, that's what's annoying about it.

But he's supposed to be a turtle, and turtles aren't known for having long legs, so I don't think it will be based off hun-gurr design but who knows what Hasbro has planned. After all that's part of the fun of being a fan of a franchise like this, seeing what comes next

Sharks, piranhas, manta rays and squids aren't supposed to have legs at all
So giving a turtle longer legs isn't that big of a deal, I guess
Especially because the Seacons are not normal aquatic animals rather than sea monsters

I prefer the original Seacon colors. But I prefer even more TFC Toys' Poseidon's colors AND light piping.

I was merely speculating how Hasbro may think to do it, not my personal opinion. Honestly, I was a bit shocked with how they went about Hun-Gurrr in the first place. The engineering for the original has surprisingly held up very well compared to modern figures. Heck, all the original really needs is a few U joints and shoulder hinges, and done, just as poseable as a modern figure. It would not have been hard at all to make a modern interpretation of that in Voyager size with CW ports. While I think the current one will be a great figure, he certainly isn't the definitive Hun-Gurrr.

All that said, I would love it if Snaptrap were a totally different mold. Just like I would love it if Hun-Gurrr and Scattershot were as well. And Onslaught. And Motormaster. Maybe down the line we will get more definitive versions of each.

I really like the new one as far as we've seen him and I don't mind being partially the Silverbolt mold. The only things I mind are the stubby thin frontlegs and that he has no real weapons especially for combined mode.

All of those pictures were him standing entirely by himself! He's very stable, and has some great ankle movement in both directions.

and I agree, Rodimus Unicronus will be mine! Just gotta wait for a listing of him with Optimus

Great pics, D-Max!

His ankle articulation and those red foot-supports allow Roddy to stand his ground.

His front "skirt" gets in the way if you want to bend his legs forward, though, for both Rodimus & Hot Rod.

Best way around that would have been for the back to be the combiner chest and have the arms fold in to widen the body.

However, before we get to far into the weeds I just want to say I DO like this mold for Hun-Gurr. About the only negatives are that its an obvious re-engineering of silverbolt (who has now had at least 5 remold/re-engineers if you include UW Computron) and it doesn't appear the knee caps will be dragon heads.

Again it just is not yet the definitive version of Hun Gurrr to me. A great interpretation though.
