I'd buy both!
It was said in a previous livestream by, IIRC, Evan Brooks that they are open the idea of doing a Studio Series 86 version of Astrotrain, but that it wouldn't be an new mold but just a redeco of Siege Astrotrain with more show-accurate colors (and, of course, no battle damage paint splotches).

That's unfortunate, the reason I want anew Astrotrain is because I don't like the Siege figure's aesthetics/sculpt.

I understand the issue with Blitzwing’s jet mode (although from above it looks good), but overall he’s a great figure.
That bot mode is beautiful, and the tank mode is awesome.
In terms of appearances he’s much better than Astrotrain, who imo doesn’t have one solid mode out of the three. It is a shame they aren’t willing to retool him into something better.
That character deserves a better figure.

Only Blitzing bot mode is good. The jet is an insult while the tank would be acceptable if it didn't had its "dick" out.

As for Siege Astrotrain, he's great but indeed far from perfect. I would have skipped the tender/armor gimmick and gave those extra parts and budget so that Astrotrain's train mode didn't had a tiny front and for the shuttle to have a complete top.

Agree to disagree. I love that the tank has the cockpit like it did in the cartoon. And the jet really isn’t that bad considering it’s a triple changer.

Neither one of these alt modes are any better than Blitzwing’s jet.
That “train”…. Even the extra parts don’t help. That’s right up there with ER Magnus’s trailer. It just looks bad. And the shuttle isn’t even complete; the back half looks like a middle-schooler’s “good enough” efforts.
The bot mode is so greebly…. Combined with the stupid battle damage paint apps on the lower legs; it’s all poor form to where I probably wouldn’t put this in my collection if someone gave it to me for free.
This character desperately deserves another figure.

Yeah, the Siege Astrotrain is very underwhelming. The tender (or its parts) was completely unnecessary for all 3 modes. We need a true leader class figure, or better yet, hopefully he will be the Commander class figure for SS86 next year.

Blitzwing is pretty good in both robot and tank modes, but the jet mode is trash. It's much improved with the tank bits/robot backpack removed, but technically that's a custom/partsformer.

Just read a leak that there are three Mayhem 2 packs on the way:
Barrage & Chopshop
Knockout & Windsweeper
Bludgeon & Ruckus

Then the collab figure is a TMNT party wagon.

I guess things changed from the earlier leak that said one was going to be a 3 pack. Can't say I'm thrilled with Knockout being in there. They had A LOT of characters to choose from and they went with someone from the most recent incarnation that isn't a popular figure to begin with? Should have packed him with Bludgeon, make him easier to pass on.

I wonder which universes they'll be from.

Barrage and Chopshop could be either G1 or RID 2015

Given Windcharger (who is likely G1), I actually think G1 Knock Out is more likely than a Prime Knockout rerelease/repaint.

Bludgeon and Ruckus I'm guessing might be Comics Universe

It's Windsweeper, not Windcharger. I think it's more likely that they'll all be branded as "Comics Universe" than have different labels. After all, Legacy Toxitron was branded G2 to fit the capsule rather than given a tag specific to his continuity, and this is for the Amazon Thunder Mayhem capsule.

Just reflecting a bit on the Generations line as a whole...It is interesting.

The acronym C.H.U.G. definitely reflects the journey collectors have been on for the last 17 years or so (basically since the UT ended in 2006, and as a supplement to older fans to compliment the Live action movie franchise beginning in 2007)

As Classics became Universe, and Universe became Generations, it moved from being more "stylized" versions of classic characters, then more of a support to Video Games, then finally in the last decade (If you jumped on during T30, or CW like I did), or more recently with the WFC Trilogy in 2019, then you've seen the effort to make things more and more faithful to the OG series. SS86 compliments this as well.

Basically it was the two Deluxe Insecticons that caught my attention, they will definitely be highly desired in many fans collections. However, if we take 2019 as a starting point. The most recent iteration of "Generations" is on its 6th year, (10th if you go back to Prime Wars which still has a few definitive versions of some characters) and yet not all the OG characters have been updated. The list is getting smaller, but with the expansion into other universes since Kingdom in 2021 (which isn't a bad thing). Collectors looking to "finish" their modern OG collection, whether it is just 84-86, or just TF:TM, or basically everything from 84-90, prepare to be in it for the long haul. Maybe only 1-2 items per year will fill those gaps, but that's about where we are now.

Heck, everything I really want to complete my collection is in my signature. But there will be occasional surprises that impress me, and prompt an unanticipated purchase (all the -izers for instance). It will be interesting to see how many more years "Generations" has left in it. From a character standpoint, it could go on near indefinitely. However with the market changing, and toys getting more and more expensive. Unfortunately it will end at come point.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

As already pointed out, it's Windsweeper, the Triggercon, not Windcharger. It's definitely going to be Prime Universe Knockout as he's the (final?) Mayhem leader in the IDW comics and based on the Legacy design.

Can't be proper G1 Knockout because, I mean, what would it be based on?

Oh wow, I'd never seen this comic design for Knock Out before. Now his Legacy toy design makes a lot more sense, but he really should have been labelled "Comic Universe" rather than "Prime Universe" given how little it looks like the Prime version of the character.

I wonder if they will do an Impactor and retool the Legacy Bludgeon to more resemble the inner-pretender robot, kinda like the club did?

There's some circular logic here, though, because the art was likely based on the toy rather than the other way around. Minerva also closely mirrored her Legacy toy version, and this specific Wreckers comic featured multiple characters from the Velocitron sub-line.

More generally, I think the fandom cares much more about the universal designations than Hasbro does, especially since the original mandate meant "G1ifying" the designs.

Windsweeper is likely going to use the Needlenose mold.
And Ruckus the recent Beachcomber.
And all Triggercons would now be accounted for in a modern body.

Curious what they’ll do to Knockout to make it different from the standard release.

Already own that Knockout, but could be compelled to get that set since I don’t own Needlenose, if it’s different enough.

Options are like A*holes, there's often too many in the world.

Joking aside, Ruckus is the only one that looks interesting enough to me to possibly purchase. Beachcomber repaint can't be that bad, if that's what they do.

Unfortunately it's another 2-pk scenario where the other Bot is a waste of space that only inflates the price of the one you actually want, particularly when all they are is repaints.
So for that reason, I'm out. I'm not into playing those games, maybe if I see it one sale I'll bite.

For a core class, he looks awesome. Beast Machines is a hard sell, so I get why it's core class for now, but hopefully we'll eventually get full sized figures. I guess at least like this it's in scale with Thrilling Thirty Tankor and the G1 guys from Legacy, lol.

Chop Shop and Barrage are probably and instant grab, although I would have personally preferred Venom/Venin over Barrage. The other two Mayhem packs....I don't care enough about either of the new bots to tolerate re-buying characters I just got, unless they work some sort of dark magic to turn Knock Out from the worst instance of Legacy G1-ification to an actually good figure of him (but I highly doubt that). Kinda surprised they didn't throw an Axer repainted from Axlegrease in here somewhere, seeing as how he was in IDW2 Mayhem, it would synergize with the Star Seekers, and we know at least Mark has been thinking about him from the Prime Arcee BTS.

BM Cheetor sure looks like BM Cheetor, kinda crazy that we're one figure away from seeing the entirety of Wave 2 even though Hasbro themselves have only actually shown two of the figures (and Cheetor was at retail, no less).
